At one time, back n the heady heyday of Britpop, my riend would insist she had Jarvis Cocker locked in her wardrobe, and she would let him out once a night to sng her the contents of Different Class. Can you imagine eh? Back in the day, I paid the Princely sum of £8 or thereabouts for this album and I have certainly had every penny's worth. I am lead to believe you can get it for £3 - £6 on t'internet nowadays.
Different Class is one of my favourite all time ever albums, I cannot get enough of it. Listening to it now, it is still fresh, even though it is - GASP! - over 10 years old. How time flies...
The Packaging.
When first relased, this album had a selection of cards with it, so you could pick and choose your own album cover and fit it in the "frame" on the front sleeve. For the record, I had the guy n the beach with the donkey. And still do! LOL!

This album is a kind of a grower. It took me several listens when I first got it, but it soon got right into my head and I could listen to it everyday and still hear something new in it.
Jarvis's lyrics and songs still, as always, revolve around sex, but, in my opinion, better glorify sex than drugs and drink, so there you go. Again as always, there is a little story going on through each song.
The slower songs especially creep up on you after a while, and for me, have overtaken some more obvious songs to become album favourites - Live Bed Show for example. I adore this song! It is so sad, so poignant because it seems so true... But at the same time, Jarvis gives it this little bit of passion so you can end up singing along in earnest!
Something Changed remonds me very much of when I met my husband weirdly, though it has no bearing on our meeting, it wasn't playing or anything! It is the lyrics... "I couldv'e stayed at home and gone to bed, I could've gone to see a film instead..." I was on my way to the cinema, and his friends had to cajole him to go out with them...
My least favourite song on the album is Disco 2000. It just isn't quite up to par, and reminds me of the cool kids at school hearing it and liking Pulp! hahahahaha!
There isn't a single song on the album that ends up as a great sing a long. That is always the sign of a cracking album. The songs don't sound dated at all, and still have social relevance (Mis-shapes).
Overall, I would give this album a resounding 9/10. removing Disco would probably give it a well-deserved 10.
