A few years ago, when this was first released, and Setting Sun (a highlight of the album) got to number one, I hated this music - I was eleven at the time! However, a couple of years later, I love it! I bought this album because I had the excellent Surrender, and my friends told me that I should get Dig Your Own Hole. Being impressionable, I did. I made a good choice, after all. The album starts on a forceful note with 'Block Rocking Beats', a song with a powerful beat and strong bass, punctuated by shouts of 'Back with another one of those block rocking beats!'. The fifth track, and the one with the most commerical success, which looking back, well deserved a number one position. To be honest, from first listing Setting Sun sounds, well, odd. The usual beat is sliced by a high-power 'whoosh' sliding across your stereo. This sound makes you sit up. It makes you listen. It makes you want to enjoy the music. And, SS was the first joint outing between Noel Gallagher and the Chem Bros, who later teamed up again for the equally excellent 'Let Forever Be'. I would recommend this album to, well anyone - It's that good!
