Dig Your Own Hole/Exit Planet Dust - Chemical Brothers (The)

...Back in the days of this albums first release (1995) the former "dust brothers", hence the album name, couldn't afford celebrity singers to do the vocals on their tracks, so they did without. This album really exemplifies the true talent of the Chemical Brothers, they take samples of everything from sirens to stratocasters play around with the way they sound then mix them together with some top notch drums and beats; into melodic, diverse and well finnished songs. Every song on this album should be a classic but you can only fully appreciat the album when its played from start to finnish so you can hear the contrast between the fast and slow and the high and lows . If your only familliar with the Chemical Brothers more recent work then you might be dissappointed with the lack of catchy vocals. If your looking for high quality... Read review

...The follow up to Exit Planet Dust is an excellent album by the two brothers known as the Chemicals. The album opens with the number one smash Block Rockin' Beats then the quality remains as a high right through till the end. The single Setting Sun contains the guest lyrics of Noel Gallagher. The album also contains the lyrics of the talented Beth Orton on Where Do I Begin. These guests give testomony to the to the respect for the Chemcial Brothers in the music business. The album concludes with the fabolous Private Psychedelic Reel which is 9 minutes of pure bliss.... Read review
