At just 19 years old, Hilary Duff has achieved a lot. She rose to fame as a teenager in Disney's hit TV show 'Lizzie McGuire', since then she has starred in many movies, has released 4 studio albums, she has her own clothing range and has recently launched her own fragrance 'With Love'.
Her fourth album 'Dignity' has just been released in the UK. 'Dignity' shows how she has matured and grown up. She is back with a sophisticated new image and new sound. Her previous albums have been of a pop/rock sound but now she has moved onto a more pop/dance sound. I own her 3rd album 'Most Wanted' which was a sort of a greatest hits CD, I have to say that there is such a difference between this one and 'Dignity'. 'Dignity' is far better in my opinion, she seems to have found a style that suits her so I hope she sticks to this now.
I was also surprised to see that Hilary has actually co-written 13 out of 14 tracks on the album.
Stranger - The album kicks off to a good start, the opening bars reminds me so much of 'Buttons' by Pussycat Dolls! This is one of my favourite songs on the album as the chorus is so catchy
Dignity - This is the title track, and is quite dancy. It's written about hollywood stars who have let fame get to their heads, it talks about how some people will do anything for money. "Wheres your dignity? I think you lost in the Hollywood hills"
With Love - This is the second single from the album to be released in America (although it was the first single in the UK), and this definitely stands out on the album, I can see why it was a single. After a few plays the beat will be stuck in your head! The video for this song is also very good.
Danger - Not my favourite on the album, but it has a good beat to it and the chorus is quite infectious
Gypsy Woman - On first play I thought this was really weird! It has a strange sound to it repeating in the background, however I think this song is a grower, I quite like it now
Never Stop - I love this song! It really makes you want to get up and dance! Its not the strongest song, but its such a fun pop song and it would make a good single.
No work, all play - Again, this isn't the strongest song on the album, its quite mellow but all in all its a nice song
Between you and me - This song is a grower, the chorus keeps sticking in my head
Dreamer - This is another quite mellow song, its about the paparazzi following her around everywhere she goes 'I try to lose you in my car, c'mon buddy don't you think you've overstayed your stay'
Happy - This is definitely one of my favourite songs on the album, like the title it is a 'happy' fun song and its really quite catchy too
Burned - This is the only ballad type song, although I wouldn't really call it a ballad as such. Its a nice song with lyrics that a lot of people can relate to, 'Whats wrong with me, I get lonely in a crowd, everyone is smiling but I make myself left out'
Outside of you - This is probably my favourite on the album, its slightly rocky and its a really strong song, I hope this will be a single
I Wish - The chorus of this song is so catchy, however its not one of the best songs of the album
Play With Fire - I love this song, this was the first single to be released in America, although it was never released in the UK which is a shame as its a great song!
Overall, I really love this album...its definitely her best album. Her new sound really suits her, she has defnitely moved on from her teenage pop/rock songs.
I'd definitely recommend this album to anyone who likes a good fun pop album, it's not at all cheesy!

Good stuff - got this for less than a fiver a few days ago; don't like it as much as Most Wanted, but there are some fun songs on here - "Dignity" and "Gypsy Woman" are my favourites so far :) tom

Advantages: It is unusual and unique and there is lots of variation Disadvantages: It probably won't do very well as Hilary's talent gets unfairly overlooked
