Funk Off Review ofTribute To Jack Johnson, A - MilesDavisby

Advantages: Reinvigorated Davis, awesomely funky, with a superb band. Disadvantages: You're kidding right?
...Post 'Bitches Brew', amid the slow disintegration of the second great quintet, at a time when Columbia didn't know or even care how they marketed Miles, Davis produced this pearler. 'On the Corner' would follow, a series of mishandled live albums, and then ill health combined with his ongoing cocaine addiction would see Davis disappear for the greater part of the seventies.
'A Tribute to Jack Johnson' however is Davis at one with his material, interviews reveal this to be a project Davis dug, really dug. A longtime fan of boxing, and constant visitor to the ring to keep fit (relatively speaking for a cocaine addict with shot hips), in Jack Johnson Davis spotted a kindred spirit. The album was the soundtrack to a documentary about the legendary heavyweight. Johnson was THE great black hope in the early 20th century, an African American...

Advantages: Another masterpiece Disadvantages: may be too intense for some
...It is finally here! Metamorphoses is a different Jean Michel Jarre than what we are used to. This CD sounds so good and well defined that nothing else will sound good on your system anymore. This is a multi-layered, multi-dimentional ultra masterpiece. Jean-Michel Jarre is always exploring for new sounds, has made yet another genius album.
The casual fan may write it off as too much of a techno album. But the reality is that Jarre implements heavy electronic bass, synthesised voice & female vocals to drive this sensational original album.
However this album may not be for all lovers of synthesiser work as it is a very intense composition. If you are looking for an easy listening synthesiser piece this is probably not for you. On the other hand if you want to hear how far Jean Michel is pushing the boundaries of music then I would...

Best soundtrack yet Review ofBuffy The Vampire Slayer - Original TV Soundtrackby
spliggle
Advantages: Brilliant soundtrack, emotional songs, cool music, excellent for fans of the show Disadvantages: A couple of weak links in the playlist, not appealing to EVERYONE
...to anyone who watches the show and an ok instrumental to anyone who doesnt (or as my friend says-"something that sounds as though it's come from a television show").
As said before, there are few duff tracks-probably only hepburn-i quit, and rasputin-transylvanian concubine (which is a very weird song!). All the others rarely fall below average standard-and most excell. My favourite tracks are bif naked-luck and k's choice-virgin state of mind which are able to be both dramatic, moving and soft.
There are also songs for those with more harder tastes in music though-garbage,four star mary (the band dingoes ate my baby in the show).
Overall,I think that while this is a brilliant compilation cd,it is also a wonderful soundtrack-something quite rare as far as Im concerned. I think this would not only appeal to fans of the show, but fans of most...
