Ultimate Dirty Dancing is one of my favourite CD's, boasting all the songs from the film Dirty Dancing, in the order they appear on the screen. If you've just watched the film and are in a dancy mood, its perfect to put on and dance to - because, as you see in the film, almost all of the songs are excellent to dance along to. Even if you dont feel like dancing, after listening to this for a while you wont be able to resist, especially if you're home alone, with no witnesses!
One track, Shes Like the Wind, is actually sung by Patrick Swayze. Not all of the songs have lyrics, there are several which are purely instrumental; merengue, trot the fox, johnnys mambo and time of my life (instrumental version) - aka tracks 3-6.
Like the film itself, you'll never get tired of this. Even generations to come, as the film will remain a classic, so too will this soundtrack. If you love the film, I'd definitely recommend purchasing this.
It does, of course, include the number one, grammy award winning single "(I've Had) the Time of my Life" by Jennifer Warnes and Bill Medley. A song that if you dont recognise from the film, you probably will from a holiday advert. All in all, its an excellent collection of songs from the 60's to the 80's, and a much ordered compilation soundtrack than its predecessors. Listening to it will most definitely involve flashbacks to the film, and it does appeal to a whole realm of age groups. A must-have for any Dirty Dancing fan.

Review of Dirty Dancing (Ultimate Dirty Dancing) [ECD] - Various Artists
Advantages: All the songs Disadvantages: Some less popular songs
Ultimate Dirty Dancing is the only soundtrack which has all the songs featured in this amazing film. There are 26 songs in all (the original soundtrack had 12!)ranging from acoustic Time of my life to the slightly annoying Kellermans Anthem - you know, the song they *try* to sing before the main dance sequence at the end.
The best thing about this cd is the added bonus of the songs being in the order that they appear in the film so if (like me) ... ...like the back of your hand then whilst you listen you can imagine each scene in your head.

Advantages: Every song that appears in the film Disadvantages: There are none that I could think of!
...collection, as a self confessed dirty dancing addict it perfectly provides every song in the order they appear in the film.
Much better than the original soundtrack which only gave a selection of the songs.
This CD is great for reliving the film...If like me you have seen it hundreds of times you can even get friends together and re enact the dance routines for each of the songs.
Also perfect for a trivia game I have invented with my friends...play ... ...film at the time each song was playing.
This leads into a perfect excuse (not that one is needed) to watch the film through again just to see who was right and who was wrong.
The Ultimate Dirty Dancing Collection is the perfect soundtrack to all those girly nights in! ...

ULTIMATE DIRTY DANCING contains every song from the DIRTY DANCING movie, sequenced in the order that they appeared in the film. This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser. This is a Hyper CD, which contains regular audio tracks and also provides a link to the artist's website with the help of a web browser. The Patrick Swayze film DIRTY DANCING and its accompanying soundtrack have become a pop-culture phenomenon over time. Not only was there as second album of DIRTY DANCING songs, but years after the movie's initial release, we have a compendium of songs from both albums, with the track list arranged to follow the same order as the movie. Regardless of what you may feel about Swayze's own addition to the pop pantheon, "She's Like the Wind," ULTIMATE DIRTY DANCING is full of 1960s R&B classics. Bruce Chanel's wistful, harmonica-laced "Hey Baby;" Otis Redding's pleading ballad "These Arms of Mine;" and Solomon Burke's transcendent, consoling "Cry to Me" rub shoulders with early-'60s hits by Frankie Valli and the Ronettes. The collection appropriately closes with DIRTY DANCING's ostensible theme song (and a favorite of lounge singers everywhere), the Bill Medley/Jennifer Warnes romantic duet "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."
