Advantages: Peter Greens skill is rediscovered in the form of Gary Moore Disadvantages: None
I saw Peter Green & Fleetwood Mac in the late sixties and GaryMoore is the first guitarist that I have heard play his songs, where you could shut your eyes, and be transported back to that concert.
This is my experience of Peter Green and also GaryMoore whom I saw play "I loved another woman" at the MEN Manchester.
If you love good music albeit the Blues and want to hear it played by actual musicians then "Blues for Greeny" is for you.
To honour one of the guitarists he admires GaryMoore has stepped away from his own high class musicianship and produces an album of Peter Green songs six of which can be found on the albums "Fleetwood Mac" and "Mr Wonderful" (see my reviews on these albums, (Early and More Early English Blues) and also puts in some lesser known songs as well as "I need your love so Bad ...
Advantages: imaginative celtic rock. Disadvantages: dont expect the Gary Moore of the blues days.
GaryMoore became best known for his blues period in the 1990s but we should remember that he has moved through a wide range of musical styles, all based in the rock format, but all with very distinct flavours. Advantages: Some great politically motivated songs Disadvantages: No continuity in the songs
Victims of the Future is one of GaryMoore’s better albums. Gary’s style of playing the blues, combined with his love for ballads and heavy rocks make this album a more rounded album than Corridors of Power. His guitar playing is excellent. Some of the better songs are:-
Victims Of The Future
This song is essentially a combination of rock/ blues and ballad. It tells the story of hour our hopes are disappearing as our leaders leave us to our own ends providing no guidance. The melody is somehow haunting yet pleasant. The lyrics are thought provoking.
Empty Rooms
Perhaps the best song on the album and the only one to succeed in the British charts. This is a dark ballad that tells of the loneliness of losing a lover. It speaks a little of obsession and how every where he looks he sees his ex lover. Any one who has ...
