Formed in Canada in 1988 Jim Creeggan, Kevin Hearn, Ed Robertson, Tyler Stewart, and formerly Andy Creeggan and Steven Page are the Barenaked Ladies.
Lots of people get into discover the Barenaked Ladies in their search for great music. Some find them accidently whilst looking for something else entirely. Either way, the Barenaked Ladies music has a broad range of alternative rock and appeals to an extremely varied demograph. ...great collection of their best work (obviously). It will appeal to current fans for obvious reasons, but it's such an easy appealing listen that many music fans who've never heard the group will enjoy it too.
Using the bands eclectic and light hearted style, the track listing is as follows:
1) The Old Apartment - Mellow rock tune that introduces the album quite nicely. 7/10

This, their greatest hits album is a great collection of their best work (obviously).
2) Falling for the first time - More upbeat, but still light pop rock song with clever lyrics. A good fun song. 9/10
3) Brian Wilson - Incredibly complex and soulful acoustic track. This album has the live version which only adds to the feel of the song A BNL classic. . 10/10
4) One week - This song featured in 10 Things I Hate About You. Crazy, and quite indecipherable summery song. Another classic. 10/10
5) Be my Yoko Ono - Fantastically silly song with a toe tappingly fast acoustic feel. 8/10
6) Alternative Girlfriend - More traditional soft rock fare here results in a decent enough song. 6/10
7) It's only me - A song with a few ups and downs. Something about this song feels like being on some kind of ride. Good song. 7/10
8) If I had a million dollars - Classic BNL song. Bit silly, bit clever, bit amazing. One of the songs that sums up the bands style perfectly. 10/10
9) Call and answer - Really nice low key song. The kind of song that's perfect for those really chilled out moments.
10) Get in line - Neat little ditty that has something of a 50's fairground feel to it. 7/10
11) It's all been done - One of my personal favorite tracks. Big guitar, really upbeat, seriously singable with a great solo. 10/10
12) Jane - Mellow and harmonious, and a quite nice song, but the chorus lets it down a bit. 6/10
13) Lovers in a dangerous time - Folk style song that feels a little bit country. Interesting change of pace. 7/10
14) Pinch me - Hummy acoustic guitar riff that underlays a harmonious soft rock song.
15) Shoebox - Optimistic song, with a nice pace but typical BNL album filler. 6/10
16) What a good boy - Similar kind of song to Brian Wilson, acoustic, soulful and again a live version. Probably on par with Brian Wilson if not quite as epic. 9/10
17) Too little too late - Great guitar riff and drums make this a really cool clap along pop rock song. 8/10
18) Enid - Very BNL style but quite forgettable. Conspicuous by it's placing at the end of the album. 6/10
19) Thanks that was fun - Piano driven song with alot of feeling, but something about it doesn't quite hit the mark. 6/10
Overall, a fantastic album. If you're already a fan and have the albums, chances are you probably have most of these songs, but if you haven't then this is a great place to start.

Review of Disc One 1991-2001 (All Their Greatest Hits) - Barenaked Ladies
Advantages: Some of the great tunes from the Ladies Disadvantages: Not enough of the tunes from the Ladies
In the UK the title of this album is a bit misleading, as the majority of music listeners (unless very lucky) have not heard more than a couple of songs by this amazing band.
The album itself covers the first ten years of the Barenaked Ladies career (plus a couple of little extras for fans).
The CD contains 19 songs, with a cover booklet which features some great, short, personal reviews of each song by Steven Page (the 'lead' singer of the band) ... ...the decade by Larry LeBlanc, Canadian Editor of Billboard magazine.
In my review of the band as a whole I recommend this album as a great starter to finding out more about this band. So here is a chance to explain why. Hopefully I can give a fair idea of what the album give in terms of musical value.
The 19 tracks included are
1. The Old Apartment
This track is about change, a very rocky track which depicts a guy returning to his first aprtment ...

Advantages: Great soundtrack Disadvantages: Not much
I have only recently found the band Barenaked Ladies. While watching a film I heard a song I loved on the soundtrack. I had to find it. So I look high and low and finally found that its artist was Barenaked Ladies. The only way I could get it though was to get it through import as I didn't look particularly hard. However, it has probably been the best decision I have made in a long time for music. They have created some of the best music for rock/pop ... ...It is a pity that they have not had the accreditation in England that they deserve. They have been a huge hit within America and there biggest hit, 'one week' actually did make England’s charts a few years back but all there songs should have been chart toppers.
If you are looking to buy a new music cd and enjoy pop/rock music, then I would seriously suggest you invest in some Barenaked Ladies music. -----------------------------

Album Notes
Barenaked Ladies: Ed Robertson (vocals, acoustic & electric guitars); Kevin Hearn (vocals, guitar, piano, keyboards); Jim Creeggan (vocals, bass); Tyler Stewart (vocals, drums); Steven Page (vocals). Producers include: Jim Scott, Michael Phillip-Wojewoda, Don Was, Ben Mink, Susan Rogers. Includes liner notes by Howie Klein, Larry Le Blanc, and Steve Page. In the decade since Barenaked Ladies entered CFNY's "Modern Music Search" contest and waked away the recipients of the $100,000 grand prize (which financed their debut GORDON), have quietly gone from cult phenoms to international pop stars. Led by the double-barreled threat of singer-songwriters Steven Page and Ed Robertson, BNL have amassed an impressive canon of music packed with clever lyrics, an embarrassment of hooks and super-tight arrangements. DISC ONE: ALL THEIR GREATEST HITS serves as a treat for die-hards and casual fans alike with its mix of the familiar ("Pinch Me"), rare (an acoustic version of Bruce Cockburn's "Lovers In A Dangerous Time") and the newly recorded (the new wavey "It's Only Me (The Wizard of Magicland)"). Amid all this manna are true gems like the jaunty acoustic jangle of "Be My Yoko Ono", stream-of-conscious catchiness that defines "One Week" and live-favorite-turned-Lotto-theme song "If I Had $10000000. Elsewhere, Two of the Ladies' most poignant cuts - "Brian Wilson" and "What A Good Boy" - are represented with stellar in-concert versions. Fans of breezy, exuberant pop are also directed to the brassy "Enid" and runaway brilliance of the infectious "Falling For The First Time".
