Advantages: cheap to visit, great views of paris, one of the most popular attractions Disadvantages: lengthy queues
If you visit Paris its almost rude not to go up the Eiffeltower. Those of you who have read my other reviews on Paris will know I went there last summer for a few days??and yes I did venture up the Eiffeltower.
History:
The Eiffeltower was built by the contractor Gustave Eiffel in 1889 and is 118 years old. It took only two years two months and five days to build, which is quite remarkable considering the height of the tower, the weight of the metalwork used and the fact that it was only 1889! There is an exhibition marking the building work of the tower on one of the levels and this is well worth a look, although I can't remember which level it is on.
My opinion:
I thought it was great and really good value for money, however it has since been named top of the list in a poll of the worlds most disappointing tourist spots ...
Advantages: Close to the Eiffel Tower, clean and not bad prices Disadvantages: No tea or coffee facilities in the room.
breakfast. The hotel, as do many of the city centre hotels, have frequent offers for free night if staying 3 or more on various dates so it is worth looking into this before booking to save yourself some money and make the nightly rates even more attractive!
Overall opinion:
I liked this hotel but, I have to say it probably wouldn't be somewhere I'd chose to stay of my own accord. I can't complain because worked arranged it but, as a round up I would say the things I liked about the hotel was the close location to the Eiffeltower and the quiet area around it. I also thought the breakfast was nice with both a hot and cold selection which kept me going during the busy day! However I was put off by the fact that the rooms didn't have the tea and coffee facilities as there is nothing more I like in the morning than getting a brew before even ...
Advantages: Amazing Views, great experience Disadvantages: A little pricy, can be very busy.
I suppose it would seem hard to write a decent review about a landmark that is so well documented and features in just about every movie filmed in France ever.
i know that you will have seen pictures of it and perhaps seen one of the many movies: View to a kill, Le Divorce etc and I am sure that you have really grasped the true size of the thing. It is absolutely emormous and seems to climb for ever.
We visited it on the 21st of June 2006. We got their via the Metro and the RER (larger trains that the metro). Basically we were walking on the street that has the Tower on it, but we could not see it at all. Initially you have to look up into the sky to see it as there are lots of trees around it.
I could not fathom the size of the tower and I felt daunted at the prospect of going upto the top.
The price was OK, but if you ...
