Andy did like he was told, buffed those shoes to a high mirror shine. The guard simply didn't notice, neither did I... I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a mans shoes?

Live have had to go back to the good-old-days to delivering there forth album "The Distance to Here" (October 1999). After a poor reception from there third album "Secret Samadhi" (February 1997) which did no favors for Live's fan base, they had to reunite with producer Jerry Harrison to bring back there lost sound which was so popular with Mental Jewelry and especially Throwing Copper.
The "Secret Samadhi" album was heavier which I feel many "main-stream" fans had rejected the concept, although it reached number 1 and went double platinum. "Lakini's Juice", "Freaks", "Turn My Head" and "Rattlesnake" were all extremely popular hit singles from the album.
"The Distance to Here" comes at you faster and reignites their sound from the "Throwing Copper" days, while Chad Taylor's (lead guitar) background vocals is much crisper which achieves more fluent and well balanced sounding songs. The album also has an angrier sound with more guitar riffs throughout.
The songs that were released- "The Dolphin's Cry", "Run to the Water" and "They Stood Up for Love" all received great credits, which propelled "The Distance to Here" to number 4 in the US album charts then finally going on to reach platinum.
Live have made there name in rock with "Throwing Copper" and have been searching ever since for the next album with such prowess. With the help of Jerry Harrison "Feel the Quiet River Rage," "Sparkle," "Meltdown," and "Sun," show Live's ability to reproduce music of the same caliber easily making "The Distance to Here" there second best album to date
While Live remains moderately popular in the United States, the band has gained significant popularity abroad, particularly in Europe with a massive fan base in Holland.

How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
There's too much here on the band and not obviously enough about the album in particular.

Sorry for the low rating, but this review is just a LOT too much like Gina Boldman's review here: http://www.music.com/release/the_distance_to_here/1/ ***|*** and here: http://musicstore.connect.com/album/500/000/000/000/002/221/131/500000000000002221131.html
