... Dive In (4:02)
The album title track but not the strongest song as it has weak lyrics compared to others. The lyrics for this song are easily predictable but has a just a little bit of good tune to save the song but not enough to make it excel. It rates a 1 out of 5.

6. Dive In (4:02)
The album title track but not the strongest song as it has weak lyrics compared to others. The lyrics for this song are easily predictable but has a just a little bit of good tune to save the song but not enough to make it excel. It rates a 1 out of 5.
7. I Gotta Know Tonight (3:22)
Watch out for this track coming up again at the end of the album. Honestly this version is weaker ... ...boasts very strong and original lyrics but unfortunately did not shine from the others. This song rates 3 out of 5 for just being blunt.
8. Sliding Doors (4:13)
This song reminds me of the movie sharing the same title starring Gyweth Paltrow (Not too sure on how to spell her name though). It starts off with an interesting tune and Darius rhyming more than singing but further into the chorus of the song, the tune catches ... more
Well, what have I to say about this debut album from one of the laughing stock from Pop Idol? Nothing but two thumbs and two toes up. This is a great album.
When I bought the CD, it says it has a special feature of exclusive video contents accessible via a web link but unfortunately it doesn’t work anymore. All it has now is just a blank page with a picture of Darius that will launch in your computer when you pop in the CD. Well, so much for the CD being enhanced. Rip Off on that part, the rest is fine.
Album Details:
Release Date: December 2, 2002 Number of Discs:1 Label: Universal Tracks: 13 Total Running Time: 52 minutes 31 seconds Website: http://www.dariusmusic.com
The CD cover features Darius posing in front of a car which I believe is the same one as in the video of Colorblind. The whole CD inlay is printed in full color and best of all has all the lyrics in it so one can sing to their hearts content without having to go somewhere to search for the lyrics. This is what all albums should be made like as I believe that everyone that buys a CD deserves to at least have the lyrics to songs in the booklet.
Track Listings and Reviews…
1. Colorblind (3:35) Who can’t remember this classic from Darius, his self penned debut no 1 single. It is a great track and demonstrates his creativity in writing. The lyrics are absolutely amazing and can be sung along after hearing it for the second time. The video for this track was filmed in the US in some desert and features an extra pretty model. This is what I would say the Darius theme song. It gets an incredible 5 out of 5.
2. Rushes (3:34) When most people think that Darius is a one hit wonder, he comes back with his second self penned single that was a top 10 hit. The song Rushes takes time before one can like it. I have to hear it a couple of times before deciding that it is a good track. It has some similarity with colorblind and one can easily identify it as a Darius song. The video for this song is filmed in the US as well and I like the part when he is driving in the tunnel and everything starts to flash past quickly during the chorus. This song rates a deserving 4 out of 5.
3. Incredible (What I Meant To Say) (3:34) Track 3 starts with a combination of guitar and claps. This is a fun track and about the times we accidentally say something we do not mean. It is when our tongues slipped and say things that hurt our loved ones. This song rates 4 out of 5 for both the creativity and catchy tune.
4. Girl in the Moon (3:34) Finally a softer version of other Darius songs, you can hear his vocals clearly and this song gets you after hearing it for a few times. I did not like this song at all when it first came out. I guess it was because it wasn’t the usual style that Darius sings. However, he manages to carry the song brilliantly. This song rates a handsome 4 out of 5.
5. I'm Not Buying (4:22) Darius chooses to sing about not accepting the fact that the relationship is ending. He believes that there is still hope in the relationship and every relationship can be saved. The song is not too bad and has good background music but I feel it tends to clash with the vocals and one can tend to struggle to listen to what Darius is saying. Well, it rates a disappointing 2 out of 5.
6. Dive In (4:02) The album title track but not the strongest song as it has weak lyrics compared to others. The lyrics for this song are easily predictable but has a just a little bit of good tune to save the song but not enough to make it excel. It rates a 1 out of 5.
7. I Gotta Know Tonight (3:22)
Watch out for this track coming up again at the end of the album. Honestly this version is weaker than the demo version but it is more polished. It boasts very strong and original lyrics but unfortunately did not shine from the others. This song rates 3 out of 5 for just being blunt.
8. Sliding Doors (4:13)
This song reminds me of the movie sharing the same title starring Gyweth Paltrow (Not too sure on how to spell her name though). It starts off with an interesting tune and Darius rhyming more than singing but further into the chorus of the song, the tune catches on and he starts singing. It rates an average of 3 out of 5.
9. Simple Like The Truth (4:24)
The truth is simple. What a nice title and the song kick off with a silent and a plain instrument tune. This is literally like the softer side of the album as we move on towards the end. The selection of the songs is all softer. This track is about a relationship and encouraging to tell the truth than keeping it hidden. It rates a 2 out of 5.
10. Better Than That (3:59)
I was about to fall asleep but luckily this track save me. It came at the perfect time to bring life to the dying mood of slow songs. It is not a good song compared to the rest but at least it has a stronger tune. It rates a 2 out of 5.
11. Mocking Bird (3:33)
This song is no surprise than the rest as it is just the plain old simple Darius style. One of the weakest tracks in the album I would say. It rates 2 out of 5.
12. Mercury Rising (4:59)
The moment I saw the title, it reminded me of the movie with Bruce Willis in. Sorry for mentioning that but that is what came into my mind while reviewing this CD. This song is really plain and not as catchy as the earlier track. I believe that they’ve decided to end the album with softer tracks and what a perfect choice with this song. It rates a 3 out of 5.
13. I Gotta Know Tonight (Songwriting Demo) (4:15)
A bonus track that at first I do not know the title at all but a quick search on the internet helped me out with this. This is basically the same song as track no 7 but is the demo version. Usually, an artist would record a demo after completing penning the song. So, this is the first version of the song that is ever made. It is basically a combination of piano and the vocal power of Darius. It has turned out very good and that they have decided to include it as a bonus track is a very good decision. This song rates 4 out of 5.
My conclusions,
This CD is a must have for pop fans as it is a collection that is worth to have. It features originally style of music. It is what I would name the unique Darius sound. If you have liked all the singles released for this album than this CD is perfect for you.
I hope this helps!
I look forward in hearing constructive feedback about my review and please leave them in your comments or on my guestbook and I will try and get back to you as soon as possible.

6. Dive In ( 4:14)
The title track of the album. It has the same kind of feel as the last song but has great guitar work and a great range from Darius. This song, I think, is about a girl who's too scared to let herself go and take the opportunities in given to her.
Don't spend a lifetime waiting
Don't tell me no - Just let go….
Darius' vocal range goes even higher in this song - I don't know how he does it! The song also features ... ...to the song. I'd give this 9/10.
7. Gotta know tonight (4:26)
This song is a ballad and features guitar, piano and violins. I love this song - its one of the best on the album and it stands out from the rest. It's about not knowing whether this person loves you and that he doesn't want to leave her until she answers his question. You can feel the emotion in his voice and the violins give a dramatic sound to the sound making it sound like a sad ...

Advantages: Good selection of tracks Disadvantages: Might seem abit sameish to some.
Darius may appear to you cheesy, minipultive and boring but his music is most certainley not. ''Dive In'' is Darius' debut album, which went platinum and also spawned off four major top twenty hit singles. Darius' musical style is mainly pop but more rockish and gutair based. The songs are very nice - some ballads, some very catchy pop songs and a few good rock tracks as well.
''Colourblind'' is an instantly catchy pop track. This was his first ... ...very catchy. Mainly pop but quite rockish too. Darius shows off his voice her too. This is instantly catchy and very good.
''Rushes'' is another very catchy pop track by Darius. The lyrics are very good and the chorus is very catchy. Darius sings in different tones and again shows off his voice. Excellently produced as well.
''Incrediable'' is incrediably catchy. Again a very good chorus with nice verses as well. A very rockish pop track, Darius ...

...series Pop Idol. Dive in was released just before Christmas in 2002 and wasn’t a huge success on the charts, which does partly reflect his level of talent. Certain songs on the album do show amazing potential but others just leave him standing with the millions of other wannabes who aren’t quite good enough to make it in the music industry. Advantages: Cheesy Pop but in a good way! Disadvantages: Bit repeatative
...tracks usually get skipped!!
DIVE IN the title track is next and we're back to the normal Darius. The song definatly has potential although is a little bit predictable. If i'm honest - which i think i might be in this review - the rest of the tracks ( I GOTTA KNOW TONIGHT, SLIDING DOORS, SIMPLE LIKE THE TRUTH, BETTER THAN THAT, MOCKING BIRD and MERCURY RISING) i tend to skip over, or just not really listen to. Mercury Rising especially is far too ... ...this album you get a bonus hidden track, GOTTA KNOW TONIGHT (DEMO) which to be fair, if you didnt like the finished version your not going to like the demo.
Because of the hidden track i find it quite difficult and annoying to listen to this CD, when i press the shuffle button on my CD player, you get big prolonged pauses between tracks as it shuffles through the soundless tracks. ( Thankfully on my Itunes the 56 blank tracks, that lie between Mercury ...

Advantages: a cracking first album Disadvantages: nothing new
Say the name Darius Danesh and immediately everyone remembers that tragic rendition of Baby One More Time on the original Popstars programme. Yet despite his critics Darius came back with a sexy clean cut image for Pop Idol and finished third, proving to everyone that he is more than cheese and oozes sex appeal. However, he seems to be one people either love or hate and I am definitely in the former category. After Pop Idol he turned down a multi-million ... ...want to sing covered and instead produced this, his self penned debut album, proving his song writing ability. The album includes all his first four singles, which include one number one (Colourblind) and two top tens (Rushes, Incredible). There is a mix of catchy guitar based tunes and softer, slower ballads where the quality of his silky smooth voice shines through, though for me the more upbeat songs have greater quality, although they might not ...
