The Division Bell is the second studio album recorded after Roger Waters left the Pink Floyd, its more commercial than their earlier offerings, but it stands up as one of the best, and pretty much signalled a return to form.

Advantages: A fantastic album Disadvantages: Only if you preferred Roger Waters in the band
The Division Bell is the second studio album recorded after Roger Waters left the Pink Floyd, its more commercial than their earlier offerings, but it stands up as one of the best, and pretty much signalled a return to form. Background
OK, the story so far, Pink Floyd began their recording life in 1967, a quartet made up of Roger Waters, Rick Wright, Nick Mason, and Syd Barrett, a year later Syd Barrett became too unreliable and so for the group ... ...in 1988, and then The Division Bell album, in 1994. Pink Floyd
The music of Pink Floyd is a fairly unique one, generally speaking its not the kind you’d dance to. Its extremely good, well sounded and the lyrics are well written and true to life. Its more experimental (well at the beginning of their recording career anyway), the music is varied, and invariably good. Its more the kind of music you’d sit back to listen and relax to, its ...

Advantages: A few good songs, very good in fact Disadvantages: More boring songs than good ones
I thought that Pink Floyd would disband when Roger Waters left as he was such a significant part of this popular beat combo ;-)
They stuck together though and this, in my opinion, shows some of the old Pink Floyd spirit even though he isn't among them any more. Incedentally I think Waters was wrong to claim he IS pink floyd and that the band couldn't use that name, because Dave Gilmour for one put so much into the pool of talent that was the Pink ... ...some good songs on it - such as "What do you want from me" which has very impressive vocals and music as does "A great day for freedom" and "Coming back to life". I was well impressed with the artwork and sleeve notes, better than the music.
The rest of the album seems pretty bland though, not the hard hitting, reality biting Pink Floyd that Roger Waters helped to create. Would I be right in saying that Pink Floyd became "Softly Softly" and commercial ...

...melloncholly moments from Roger Waters, the floyd's dark side and division bell achieve this greatly. The Division Bell holds many of the common known classics now: Take It Back, Coming Back to Life, Keep Talking, High Hopes and the rest of the tunes are exceptional as ever. Best Album ever. ...

Best Floyd ever Review ofDivision Bell, The - Pink Floydby
steve.toplis
Advantages: Excellent musical content in the original vein of Pink Floyd. Disadvantages: Roger Waters is lacking from the line up.
...went on to produce 'The Division Bell'. This is truely Pink Floyd and, in my opinion, one of their best albums. The instrumental is just as powerful and the lyrics just as potent. It just goes to show you that David Gilmour is just as competent to run Pink Floyd as Roger Waters was.
It was a shame about the split but these things happen. It's nice to know that even when a significant member of this group has left the band can still produce the goods ...

A stoners dream Review ofDivision Bell, The - Pink Floydby
hanktheshredder
Advantages: Floyd as they always have been Disadvantages: A weak 3/4 songs
...reminisent of some of the division bell album, the relitively simple structure of the song emphasises the ease of which these musians write. This song has standard Gilmour delay on the guitars, aswell as superb backing vocal support and synths in just the right places. After this track, we are hit with 2 more stunning pieces.
Riff after riff, it reeks of even some of the Syd Barret days.
The last track is strangely beautiful, despite the melancholic ...

Advantages: Double CD. everything you need for Floyd. Great art illutrations. good value for money, an Inspirational album Disadvantages: none
...is a very laid back one with songs of meaning. Very much like 'The DivisionBell' by pinkfloyd, none of the songs of this album are in Echoes but one. 'Learning to Fly'. Much like The DivisionBell, it is in a complete class of it's own and bothe these album are amongst my most treasured music. I respect the cover illustration for its modern yet strange theme….it conveys an idea of loneliness, beauty and all round uniqueness.
I would recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of the following:
PinkFloyd
Jimi Hendrix
Roger Waters
The Doors.
I've fallen in love with the album Echoes, and I would strongly suggest to you that you purchase this album. Find out the meaning behind it all.
Some of my favorite tracks from this album include:
Echoes, Shine on you Crazy Diamond, One of these Days, Learning to Fly, Wish you were here, Comfortably numb...

Advantages: It's Floyd - What more can I say Disadvantages: No Roger Waters.
...PinkFloyd fans were overjoyed when Pulse was first released in 1994. For many of them it was their first taste of the brilliance that was almost expected of Gilmour and co. Sadly this performance was sans Roger Waters, who had left the band some years before and took legal action out on Gilmour, Mason and Wright claiming that the name PinkFloyd should have been put to bed. He lost that fight, and subsequently PinkFloyd went on to record A Momentary Lapse Of reason and The DivisionBell before finally coming to an end. The first half of this performance comes mainly from The DivisionBell, which had been released just prior to this tour. The cover artwork, done by the long time PinkFloyd collaborist Storm Thorgerson, is once again a marvel, and you wonder where he manages to get so many good ideas from.
It opens with a shimmering...
