Advantages: The song Slide is excellent Disadvantages: Cheesy, candyfied MOR pap.
...Dizzy Up The Girl is the Goo Goo Dolls sixth album and its the worst so far. John Rzeznik's previous soulful songwriting runs the gamut from the weedy, simple, repititive guitar refrain of Acoustic #3 to the loud but not proud opener Dizzy. Iris (which unjustifiably became a massive hit by being on the soundtrack to an equally soulless film), is the album's sickly sweet hit - equal parts cooey ballad and cheesy rocker. Only Slide even comes to close to hitting the right emotional notes.
Bassist Robby Takac's contributions (on which he also handles lead vocals) have a harder, more refined edge to them, but are equally as worthless. It might only be August as I write this but Dizzy is most likely to be worst album I've heard this year....

Advantages: Purely a fantastic listen Disadvantages:
...The Goo Go Dolls' album is simple fantastic. It is a permanent feature in my stereo. I went out on a limb when I
bought this album but I wasn't disappointed. I had only heard the song Iris from Dizzy Up The Girl and nothing
else, but a friend recommended it to me and I wanted to try something different, and I loved it. On my first listen I
have to be honest I wasn't to keen, but each time I played it after that I loved it more and more. Each track is
unique and ranges from soft rock ballads to rock. It blasts on to your stereo with the title track Dizzy and leaves at
the end, feeling satisfied, with the bonus track Name. The best track and the most well known is Iris which
features in the film City of Angels. Written by the lead singer John Rzeznik it is simple a beautiful song.
You can't fault this album. The more you listen...
