that Hall and Oates aren't so easily confined to the dustbins of pop history. With a chart run that spanned most of the 1970s and 80s, Philadelphia's most enduring purveyors of blue-eyed soul went on to keep a fairly low profile until "Do It for Love", a newly recorded track for their 2002 VH-1 retrospective, resurrected their careers. Nearly a year later, the duo reprises the track and title on a full album that aims to recapture the best aspects of their glory days.Among the highlights onDo It for Loveis a sublime cover of New Radical's "Someday We'll Know" that teams them up withWar Babiescollaborator Todd Rundgren. There's also the funky "Miss DJ", a playful pop confection that avoids the excessive novelty of their more calculated 80s hits. After three decades, Hall still has one of pop's most expressive voices. And while the album as a whole may lack the edge and energy of the pair's earliest work, it's still a promising collection from a duo that's earned a place in Philly soul history.--Bill Forman

Monika Treut's documentaries about sexual lives--andDidn't Do It for Loveis no ... more
exception--are tactful in their exploitative sensationalism and attractive in their insistence on placing sexuality in the broader context of family and friends. However they are also deeply sentimental in their insistence on looking for the hidden trauma that, for Treut, always lies behind sexual experimentation: Eva, the subject ofDidn't Do It for Love, admits in the film's later stages to wanting to move beyond sexuality to other ways of being. A Norwegian woman who, in her late teens, became a film star and courtesan in 1960s Mexico, she went on to become first a photographer and then a dominatrix; now she is exploring a more intellectual side by doing degrees in psychology. Sunnily bisexual, she chats remorselessly about her experiences; much of the film is about her sense of Mexico as an anti-Norway in which it is possible to be warm, and casual, but also to transgress and offend. Like all of Treut's work, this is a fair-minded tour around a life and a group of friends; unadventurous as film, its principal flaw is an attempt not to leave any questions unanswered. --Roz Kaveney

Advantages: good price Disadvantages: Texture, flavour, lack of fruit, no creaminess
juicy and crisp coconut but it made it really really chewy. I gnawed for ages on the oats and coconut. Because the oats lacked the creaminess, they were very bland. Despite the almonds, the cereal didn't have that lovely nutty taste to it as the Asda one did. The almonds were nice and crunchy but lacked kick or flavour. There wasn't enough sultanas to make the cereal juicy and easier to it. I couldn't even taste them.
Overall, the cereal was bland, chewy and boring. The oats lacked the traditional creaminess; the sultana's weren't sweet; the coconut made it far too chewy and the almonds had no nutty flavour to them at all.
Looking at the ingredients, I realised why the Asda and Tesco versions differed so much. Firstly, there are no 'Nibbled Hazlenuts' in Tesco's version, hence the nice nutty taste and flavoured milk from the Asda's one ...
Advantages: Cheap price, lots of articles, good value Disadvantages: Pages are thin and tear easily
real people, which does make it somewhat more compelling to read. Some of the stories seem to be shocking to be real though!
They always have a "Your World" page, which is made up of photos and jokes sent in by the readers, who all get paid for their photos appearing in the magazine. The pghotos are often quite amusing, with funny captions. There is also a small section called "Ask the Kids" which is childrens opinions on questions such as "How do planes fly", often very amusing!
Following that, there is the story which is the main headline on the front of the magazine. This week for example the headline is "Sex four times a night with toyboy"...they usually are quite eye-catching headlines! The story is usually 3 pages, which is a good read. After that are the LoveIt! letters, all submitted by readers. They are usually about things ...
Advantages: Very Factual Disadvantages: no special feature on dvd
Tina what?s love got to do with it
Tina, a Brian Gibson film it a fantastic true life story of Tina and Ike turner and their travels to fame and fortune. The two main actors Angela Bassett who plays Tina Turner and Laurence Fishburne who plays Ike Turner are both talented actors who have researched their roles and the facts into great depth, which makes it a fantastic and overwhelming piece of film.
Tina Turner who was born Anna Mae Bullock, grew up in a small deprived town, went to school and also attended choir practice in her spare time. Her voice was very unique and from a young age she liked to experiment with her voice, her choir teacher was impressed with her talent but always asked her to leave because Tina liked to improvise in church with her teacher was not impressed with.
When she grows into a young lady she moves ...

Album Notes
Hall & Oates: Daryl Hall (vocals, electric guitar, keyboards); John Oates (vocals, guitar). Additional personnel includes: T-Bone Wolf (acoustic guitar, bass); Sheppard (acoustic guitar, programming, sequencing); Todd Rundgren (acoustic & electric guitars); Billy Mann, Greg Fitzgerald (acoustic guitar); Jeff Catania, Mike Shimshack (electric guitar); David Sancious (keyboards); Jack Daly (bass); Mickey Curry (drums); Kenny Gioia (drums, percussion, programming, sequencing); Greg Bieck (programming, sequencing). Recorded at A Pawling Studios, Pawling, New York and at Protopia Studios, New York, New York. Sure, there's been a lot of water under the bridge since such '80s Hall & Oates hits as "You Make My Dreams Come True," let alone '70s classics like "She's Gone" and "Rich Girl." That doesn't mean that Daryl & John can't still come out swinging in the 21st century. Songs like "Forever For You" and the title track of DO IT FOR LOVE are remarkable in a couple of ways. Not only do they maintain the same kind of blue-eyed-soul flavor that made the Philadelphia duo famous, but in fact they're closer to the sound of classic '70s soul than many of the artists contemporaneously being hailed as "neo-soul" traditionalists. Amazingly, the pair's silky-soulful vocal blend and pop songwriting acumen seem not to have lost a step since their glory days.
