Steve Cropper, Booker T and the MG's guitarist, was a regular writing partner, as well as playing on most of the tracks. How about these 3 Redding/Cropper songs:
# "Mr Pitiful" - I can't remember whether this song features in the Blues Brothers or The Commitments movie, (it's probably in both) but this was exactly the 'feel' they were trying to achieve. But of course, Otis does it best.
# "Fa fa fa fa fa (sad song)" - It's hard for me to see this as a sad song, as it feels quite uplifting, and is even a a bit of a singalong song, with Otis prompting "Our turn?" and "Your turn?"
# "(Sittin' on) the dock of the bay" - the posthumous hit, and this was the first OtisRedding song I ever heard. One of his best songs, a gentle song that somehow makes your emotions swell. It's about loneliness ...

There are a lot of CDs of great music by The Man, but if you want an overview of the type of stuff he sang other than "Dock of the Bay" - then this CD is for you!
This music was released in 1968 as an album and I later bought the CD for the little-known track "You Made a Man Out of Me", but found that I enjoyed the ten other tracks as well, including the laid back "I've Got Dreams to Remember" and "A Fool for You".
The accompanying booklet says that the selections contained on this album were never released prior to 1968 (with the exception of "The Happy Song"). They were recorded during the spring, summer and fall of 1967 and comprise some of the last recordings made by OtisRedding. ...

I bought this unit in November this year. There are two models, the original sound dock which I think is about £199 and the second generation one (the one I bought) which was £279 from John Lewis. The second generation one is basically the same as the first except:
a) it has a rechargeable battery
b) it has a swing out dock
c) it has an auxiliary (3.5mm) jack input
If you just want a basic model, then go for the first gen one. I got the second gen one because I thought the battery was a useful addition as is the auxiliary 3.5mm input - I have mine connected to an apple airport express that streams itunes from my laptop to my bedroom although I have used it in a friends house with my ipod too.
The sound quality is good for its size which is about the same as a hardback book and it weighs in at about 1 kilo. You can take ...
