The Album
FOREVER YOUNG: This is pretty much as hard or heavy if you like, as Tyketto gets musically. I have always said that if i had a great singing voice and could sing on stage to entertain thousands this is the song i would sing. Forever Young is a song reminiscent of the styles by bands such as Europe, Bon Jovi or Def Leppard. The track is quite pacey and passionate with a nice smooth guitar all the way through. The song is about a young couple and the trials, adversities, and pressures that they face all taking a toll on the relationship as well as physically as the woman is the responsible one of the two and the guy is a bit of a jerk. The irony is that the guy dwells on promises made at the relationships outset prior to his unproductive relationship assassination and it is as if he has the audacity to feel cheated. Danny's vocals are incredible and what i love the most is toward the latter part of the song Danny is extremely passionate and the vocals become spine chilling in intensity as he bellows out "Forever, just you and I whoaaaa just you and i, forever, fooorreverrrr" This song never fails to blow me away and i simply cannot listen to it in public on my ipod because it inspires me to sing and its torture because i can't. Wings: Wings is an out and out ballad with acoustic guitar and very gentle lead guitar that also incorporates strong percussion to enhance it. There really isn't anything heavy about this track even the electric guitar solo is done very tempered. The song is kind about a man promoting himself to the woman that he loves and emphasises all the things that he would do for her, but i also like his cheekiness in telling her that "You can knock on any door, from now until eternity, you can keep on looking anywhere, but you'll never find another man like me" The track is very warm, endearing and you can really believe the sincerity there a passionate lines such as
"Cuts like a knife to remember Touches burnin' skin to skin The sweat on our bodies steamin' The love that I'm in"
You can sense an underlying sensuality and sexuality to the tones of the song but not in a despot, sluttish way but moreover a tender loving way as you can see:
If I could hear the thunder in your heart I know my love would light the sky I could do anything If I had the wings to fly
If I only had the wings I'd fly back to your side Make you my own Never, never let you go
If I could only hear your heart The thunder's in the sky If I had the wings to fly...
Burning Down Inside: Another AOR style ballad that is a cracking little driving track. I like the analogy of certain lyrics in the song also with lines like
Play the game of indecisions, come what may, she knows it isn't just His voice on the line, one final time she hears thunder Precious lies when she played her part Still she tries, because hope dies hard With broken wings, she can feel the sting like a backhand over the telephone
Its like his words are so scathing it is like an invisible hand slaps her face down the telephone line. The song is very sad about a woman so in need of love that she compromises herself respect settling for being treated like shit. The way the song plays out Danny expresses the desperation perfectly.
"Burning down inside, nobody wants to be lonely Burning down inside, the harder they come, the harder she falls To her face, I show my arm, I walk away, before I do more harm And with the damage done, she won't know where to run or who to run to"
As you can see the desperation to not be lonely takes precedence over her own sanctity.
Seasons: This really mixes the album up, initially it starts like the acapella songs of bands like Mr. Big and Extreme. Then it gets going but instead of being like AOR, or hard rock it's more like a ballsy road style rock & roll track, kind of like a southern rock song. This song is about a very expressive relationship with so many ups and downs
"Now this cup is getting cold and I've read through your letter So many damn times I know where I've got to go and I should have known better Than to waste so much time"
This does change the flow of the album quite dramatically and indicates the flow of the album for a few of the tracks.
Standing Alone: is the finest ballad i have ever heard in my life. I am a very private person and do not like to give anything away about myself but this song is very special to me because it is so indicative of my own personal life. Additionally i feel Danny really has a firm grasp of the feelings involved in what the song is in relation to. This verse speaks absolute volumes.
"Ain't no way to take a blow when every cheek's been turned I can't show another side when every side's been burned I'm helpless, can't fight a raging heart And I got no use for bein' torn apart And the world don't seem to have no use for me 'Cos you're given nothing, and nothing isn't free"
"Standing alone, like I got nowhere to go Standing alone, like the day that I was born Out on my own, I believe this boy has grown, standing alone"
The song is to a large extent sung to an acoustic guitar and drum but other instruments do come in later. Everything about this song is total perfection.
Lay Your Body Down: now this is one hell of a saucy racy song about a man and his sexual deviances for prostitutes and the music tone as well as vocals are pretty apparent. Here are some of the lyrics to give you an idea
"Legs in leather, burning like a satin leaf Real high steppin', my baby runs on gasoline Heat me up or cool me down, you best spell that honey 'round She got it alright, she's workin' all night She got it skin tight, I wish she'd wrap that stuff around me"
"Eva likes to play with all her toys Simone she knows just what we enjoy Wendy's misbehaving for the boys in the company team I am begging baby, won't you do a thing for me, you got to
Walk On Fire: Is a straight forward softish rock track the type of track that would fit on a Giant or Warrant album. This is nothing really outstanding but not in any way a bad record either, it just seems to plod along nicely and keeps the album ticking over. I would say it's my least favourite of the album but i still like it.
Nothing But Love: Takes the pace up again a little and leans slightly more toward the hard rock side of things. The guitar, vocals and over- all tone picks up and fairly kicks the album up a notch. Heading toward the end of the album now it really gives you something to get your teeth into.
Strip Me Down: If the title doesn't give it away this song oozes sex. It starts with some great Harmonica and then it gets real down dirty rock & roll music. It is about a girl that isn't too bright, is a lousy conversationalist but is a demon between the sheets. Check out some of these lyrics ooh er,
"Then she said, move a little to the left, move a little to the right You're messin' with some bad company, and I can't play with you all night
Strip me down, let your fingers do the walkin' Strip me down, down, down, down, down Strip me down, I let my drummer do the talkin' Strip me down, down, down, down
She said ooh, to once play the game, and you know the results will be the same She bit down like a shark, I should have known then to countermark Oh no, here I go again"
It does make for a very interesting song and is very catchy imprinting the chorus on your brain for hours.
Sail Away: Brings the close of the album right down with the last track being a jovial up beat style ballad. Again it is a for the road song with the lyrics being about escaping your home town with your buddy and exploring. The sense of freedom that the song brings is refreshing and motivational. This is a great conclusion to the album.
I wanted to give people the chance to get a feel for Tyketto and i believe the best way to introduce folk is with the song Forever Young. Here i have supplied a link to the music video to the song, enjoy.
