Full review
Dookie comes in close second on my list of favourite Green Day albums, just behind Warning (see my other op). The album has a lot of good songs, and is one you can listen to over and over again. The album has a timeless appeal to it. I received the CD for christmas 2000, as I did with Warning, and neither CD has left my CD player since.

I'll cut to the chase with the track information, and summarise it all at the end...

~Burnout (2:07)~
Straight in, fantastic song. One of the best on the album. Quite a short song, but FANTASTIC drum solos in the middle!!!

~Having A Blast (2:44)~
Another short and brilliant song. About a guy who wants to blow himself up with dynamite strapped to him, and killing everyone else, like a suicide bomber.

~Chump (2:54)~
OK, so they're getting slightly longer ;o) Catchy tune, but kinda depressing lyrics... "I don't know you but I think I hate you"...

~Longview (3:59)~
GREAT drums, fantastic bassline, lyrics are alright too, good chorus. Not too sure what the song's meant to be about. I think it's about a guy at home by himself, bored out of his skull.

~Welcome to Paradise (3:44)~
One of the best songs the band have done. About a guy who's left home, gone to live by himself, and is regretting being alone by himself in the slums. "Pay attention to the cracked streets and the broken homes, some call it slums some call it nice. I wanna take you through a wasteland I like to call my home, welcome to paradise".

~Pulling Teeth (2:30)~
Very catchy, excellent song, one that I really love. It's a FANTASTIC song. It's actually like a love song nearer the end, a bit of a change for the guys, but it works perfectly. Download this one if you have KaZaA!!

~Basket Case (3:03)~
This is the OFFICIAL Green Day classic, the song they are famous for. Everyone has heard it, and many, many people class it as the greatest rock song of all time. If you have KaZaA, I'm begging you, PLEASE download this song, even if you detest rock music. You HAVE to!! PLEASE!!

~She (2:14)~
Poor excuse for an album filler, not catchy, not one I like to listen to. Hit the skip button before it starts!!

~Sassafras Roots (2:37)~
Another waste of a track... well, at least they're consistent!!!

~When I Come Around (2:58)~
EXCELLENT song. If you have KaZaA, PLEASE download this, you'll love it. Even if you hate rock music, it's not really a rock tune. One of my favourites, it's a brilliant song, not sure what it's about though!!

~Coming Clean (1:34)~
It's a short song, but that's a good thing - it's not that great, has no real tune to it, another one that should be skipped immediately!

~Emenius Sleepus (1:43)~
Another short one, slightly better than Coming Clean, but still not up to the Green Day standard, they could have done a lot better.

~In The End (1:46)~
Great song, very punk rock style, reminds me of Stiff Little Fingers, another favourite band of mine. Too short to make any real impact on the album, but a good track anyway.

~F.O.D (5:46)~
Not a bad track, but a poor end to the album, another infamous Green Day anti-climax. A bit long compared to the other songs, perhaps just filling time because of the other short songs. It's not particularly catchy - not one you'd remember after it had finished, despite being such a long track.

~Summary~
Overall, a brilliant album, but starts to go downhill after Basket Case. The only decent song after that is When I Come Around. Still an album worth buying, and can be picked up for under a tenner in some record stores, as it's quite old (1994). Despite the age, still a fantastic album, and can never get old. One you'll never get tired of. The cartoon on the front cover is brilliant too. I can sit there for a good few minute sometimes, just looking at everything on it (note the name on the airship...)! Definitely recommended.
