SUBJECT: The doors - The doors
==============================
This was the first album released by the legendary group "the Doors". Although this album was their first, and it's already more than 30 years (!) old, the music still sounds like new.

To understand their music, you should know what the the Doors means. The name comes from this quote: "If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear as it is, infinite". In other words, Jim Morrsion & friends are looking for another, a real world, and will try to reach this world through music. (of course, this is just one of the many interpretations, but it should help you to start to understand them)

Let's take a look at what's on the album:

BREAK ON THROUGH
++++++++++++++++
They present themselves: they want to brake on through, to the other side. Looking for a thruth?
This song is boiles with energy, if you see what I mean. A classic.

SOUL KITCHEN
++++++++++++
The little organ played by Manzarek is very present here. Jim is screaming and begging enter her(?) soul kitchen.... this is poetry! One important advice: read the lyrics! (I'm talking about all songs here) They could exist without music.

THE CRYSTAL SHIP
++++++++++++++++
This songs sounds very unreal, floating, .... and then you discover why: it's about drugs. Still, it sounds very intimate and not "imseeingpinkelephants"-like. Some people claim (not some, many) that Morrison wrote his songs while being stoned.

TWENTIETH CENTURY FOX
+++++++++++++++++++++
The sound is similar to "Soul kitchen", a very present organ.

ALABAMA SONG
++++++++++++
The ultimate drinking song. Desperately seeking a whiskey bar...
This track was actually based on a german opera, explaining the pompous underlying tune. But it suits very well for a drinking song.

LIGHT MY FIRE
+++++++++++++
Another classic. Interesting comment by Pinotage: This is the full version of the song, wìth the instrumental midbreak.

BACKDOOR MAN
++++++++++++
The Doors are a lot influenced by blues. This track was based on Willie Dixon's version.

I LOOKED AT YOU
+++++++++++++++
Very catchy tune.

END OF THE NIGHT
++++++++++++++++
The only song I don't really like. Very sober, dark, .... Or maybe need to understand it more to appreciate it....

TAKE IT AS IT COMES
+++++++++++++++++++
Unknown song, but it could've been a classic if they would have released it. It has already some "grunge"-elements, just like "I looked at you", but much stronger: a calm strophe, combined with a hard refrain. Another song that really gives me a boost of energy.

THE END
+++++++
Of all doors-songs ever made, this is the song the majority of doors-fans consider as the best. Take some herbs, roll it, put on the music, lean back.... and you will see... (the other side?)

Conclusion?
one of the best albums ever, without a doubt TIMELESS
