early 70s roots reggae to the dancehall by chanting steadfastly religious Rasta vocals and biting social commentary over some of the finest roots records of the day...
Advantages: More mighty magnificence minus Martin Disadvantages: Not quite as good as 'Angel Dust'
...and bassist was a quirky character, a long-haired and bearded head-banger who enjoyed rare and imported 'prescriptions'. Like Mike, he was known to like the odd prank.
Roddy Bottum was possibly the wittiest and most sarcastic member of the band, a sharp-dressing classically trained pianist who had just come out of the closet, but had previously dated Courtney Love!
Mike Bordin, the drummer supreme, was an eccentric looking character with long dreadlocks and a goatee, but generally was very introvert.
And 'Big Sick Ugly' Jim Martin was the funniest looking of the lot. Essentially a hillbilly, Jim was a tall, imposing figure, with long, frizzy black hair, and an even thicker black beard that covered most of his features. Omnipresent red-rimmed sunglasses completed his 'look'. But Jim was an old-fashioned thrash guitarist, who just wanted to play...

Advantages: PRETTY AVERAGE ALBUM Disadvantages: QUITE A FEW
...Linda Perry is the singer/songwriter of this 1990 female version of Oasis band. Their music is loud and has a grungy style sound, they would call themselves as being folk-rock, but I would class them as being more grunge, rock and slight touch of pop.
Linda has such an unusually loud voice that would seem to overpower anyone, and the bands image is just as grungy as Oasis. Yes.. this is the only grungy female band that I know.
The only hit that the 4 Non Blondes had going on memory was ‘What’s Up’, great for singing to if you have a good set of tonsils!

Big chunky boots, dreadlocks and body piercing, and they’re...

Advantages: Australian Rockers with a Rebellious Sound Disadvantages: Some Songs a Little Too Hardcore
...This Australian band that were big fans of Nirvana released “Frogstomp” at the age of 15!!! This best of is a great selection of amazing songs… its hard to believe so many good songs are written from so few albums.
“Ana’s Song” sticks out in both formats. “Israel’s Song” with its very strong bass line stands out as a very rocky anthem; turn this one up nice and loud!!! “Tomorrow” is the song that rocketed there careers with some simple yet very effective riffs. Not all songs are rocky “miss you love” is gentle, on the other hand “freak” and “minor threat” have all the classic rock-esque attributes.
Silverchair have youthful rebellion in this album and you can feel this in there songs. A truly raw and youthful collection of songs....
