Album Notes: Personnel: Eliza Carthy (vocals, ukulele).
Album Reviews: Q (Magazine) (p.132) - 4 stars out of 5 -- "'Lavender' sees singer and string section morphing into one luminous sound painting of sunshine on water. Bewitching and original."
Advantages: Wonderful English folk at its best! Disadvantages: none
...each) and it will give you a flavour of the diversity of music on offer here.
Gloryland (track 17) is my personal favourite based on a southern gospel song written by Ira Sankey
The four musicians are:
Martin Carthy (Singing and guitar)
Norma Waterson (Singing and playing the triangle)
ElizaCarthy (Singing and Violin)
Tim Van Eyken (Melodian and Singing)
As a quartet it works beautifully and each artist is given a chance to showcase their own talents, a brilliant effort, thank-you!

Advantages: Excellent songs and music all the way Disadvantages: The exploitative 'Special Edition' factor
...This album dominated the British charts throughout 1998 and most of 1999. Did it deserve to? Yes - definitely! In a music scene stagnating with sampled dance, garage and boy bands who offer largely insipid cover versions and rarely if ever write their own songs or play their own instruments, the first family of Dundalk totally blew everything else away for a short while - and thank goodness. All right, they may look unnervingly photogenic, and their rootsy, folksy sound may have been subject to more than a little studio gloss and remixing. But who cares - it's obvious that the music is good enough to withstand it.
Unless you've been in outer space for the last few years, you're bound to know "What Can I Do", the sublimely infectious "So Young", the wistful "Runaway" and "Dreams" (the latter is my least favourite) inside out...

Advantages: 15 great tracks Disadvantages: not essential to buy this "special edition"
...I bought the Corrs' "Talk on the Corners" (Special Edition) as I have been quite a big fan of their music for quite a while and this was reduced in the January Sales to only £4 - so how could I resist?!
It's a great album - with fifteen brilliant tracks that cover a whole variety of moods, from the poppy and highly motivational "So Young", to the more relaxed sounds of the instrumental "Paddy McCarthy" - which has that unique Irish vibe to it.
This "special edition" CD is different from the original in that many of the tracks have been remixed and there are also one or two new ones.
I wouldn't say that this is an essential buy, unless you're a HUGE Corrs fan or you don't have the original. (The Corrs do seem to have a bit of a habit of trying to get as much money out of their fans as possible!)
"What Can I Do" opens the album...
