Drifters, The - Drifters (The)

Advantages: Amazing debut, groundbreaking lyrics
Disadvantages: Not abundantly available

...of subsequent singles. Discounting the two skits the remaining tracks are all astoundingly good on any scale. Standouts include '1979', 'Return Of The Drifter', 'High Plains Anthem', and 'The Trilogy', but really you can't fault any of them. Production is funky and dramatic in equal measures, always reflects the lyrical content of the track (most of them are produced by Jehst himself), and are just the sort of beat-fodder that fans of the 'golden age' (93/94, you know the score) will be eating up. Don't be put off by the fact that you haven't heard of him, or by the fact that he's English, if you're feeling tru-skool hip-hop then you can't go wrong with Jehst. I doubt there is anyone who hasn't heard this song. I personally dislike Tom Jones very much but I kinda have to admit that what's new pussycat is a great catchy song. Like many of Bacharachs songs, what's new pussycat was the signature tune to the Woody Allen film of the same name. Film critics deemed the film as decadent and immoral.
