Drunk Enough To Dance - Bowling For Soup

Advantages: Hit after Hit
Disadvantages: BFS not very dominent over in the UK

I am a big fan of bowling for soup so this may cloud my judgement a little bit but this is a great album with funny and mature songs that although may refer to inconsequential issues but don’t seem trivial as they do on their new record. This is one of their three golden albums as I like to call them! This includes many god songs in fact I would go as far as saying hit after hit of great songs that stayed in my favourites playlist for quite a while. ...
...deserve to be up with the greats and unfortunately over here its just not the case as their record label; JIVE is not very prosperous over here. Advantages: Fun, catchy pop-punk, with a humorous, non-serious approach to love
Disadvantages: Mostly pretty samey and formulaic, punk rock is never going to win awards musically

...I'm not really much of a fan of punk music. It's not that I can't stand it, I'll generally listen to most of it without complaint, it's just nothing's really grabbed me. It's dangerous to over-generalise of course, but I tend to find most of it rather samey and have a 'take it or leave it' attitude. Consequently, I missed out of Bowling For Soup for quite a while. I first heard of them around their Let's Do It For Johnny album, which I almost bought but didn't quite. A while later, must have been around April-May 2002 I think, I saw that they were even playing a gig in Oxford - supporting British ska-punk band [spunge] - and again I was tempted to see them, but didn't. ...Now ordinarily I am a huge fan of bowling for soup and loved all of their other albums such as “hangover you don’t deserve” and “Drunk enough to dance” but frankly this was a disappointment to me; I had been looking forward to their new album coming out and was let down considerably. For anyone who doesn’t know bowling for soup are an old school sort of band that create punk rock songs featuring mainly around as one of the song titles suggests “High School Never Ends” and for these big rock stars I don’t think it ever has done!! Their songs seem to revolve around such topics such as not calling girlfriends back. These used to be all quiet mature matters (within school anyway!) seeming to appeal to me more as I am in the top end of the school system but I think with the introduction of “High School Musical” they have started...
