Disadvantages: some tracks are a bit weak

...BOX OF DUB-Various artists is a showcase of tracks taken from the new popular Dubstep-future garage genre. This record covers the dubbier side of the scene with names such as 'Skream, Digital mystiks, Scuba, etc) . The tracks are original, with some bordering on strange (Digital Mystikz 'Guilty' is an example). Overall the quality is very high and rather enjoyable. The record kicks off with Digital Mystikz 'I wait' which is a lovely stripped down Dubstep drum workout with minimal synths and subs. skream shines on this record and features on two tracks. The first is 'Sub Island', a detailed drum workout over minimal but heavy sub bass and an even more minimal pad sound which suggests the tropical island feel. ...As many of you will know from reading my earlier reviews, I celebrated my fortieth birthday earlier this year, and as many of you will also know I love my 80's music. I wasn't aware of this compilation at the time, but was given it as a present by one of my friends. I subsequently discovered it was only released two days before my big day, and in many ways therefore, its release holds a special place in my collection. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ So what do you get for your money ? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As I said earlier I did not actually buy this CD myself so consequently I do not know how much my friend paid for it. However, being the nosey old git that I am, and in the name purely of research, I have been touring the various record shops to see how much this retails at. Advantages: Some good remixes and the price
Disadvantages: Not many, some fillers but i suppose you get that with every album

...A Girl Part 1 - Usher, Loon & P Diddy. Great chorus and catchy lyrics from usher, definately one for the ladies but a really popular tune. Unfoolish - Ashanti & Notorious BIG. Loads of radio play this one, mixing Biggies old tune, i think the video got more airplay than the original and another cult classic Dance With Me/Peaches And Cream - 112, Ludacris & Beanie Segal. Great mix with the two best tunes from the 112 album. Great r&b club tracks and more cult classics No More Drama - Mary J Blige. Compared to what has come before on this album, the Mary track falls just short. Its a mid tempo track which is just middle of the road So complete - Cherri Dennis. I can basically repeat the same as above, not really much going on Notorious - Lil Kim, Notorious BIG & P Diddy. Nowhere near the original in my opinion but my brother loves it... Read review
