Dub Trip-Tych - Lee 'Scratch' Perry

Advantages: A total classic
Disadvantages: nothing

...It does not get much better than this. Back in 1967 lee perry and the upsetters were making and braking ground in jamica with their roots reggae. Perry is firmly at the controls on this release and everything really seems to just come together, the harmony singing, the heavy rumbling bass (i mean HEAVY) and rhythm. For anyone with any liking for dub reggae this is essential. Truly great piece of work. Lee perrys studio the black ark was burned down a number of years later but thankfully this seminal record really captures the great sound from the black ark for posterity. A sweet sweet record that hits all the right bottons with the only complaint being that it has quite a short playing time over the 10 tracks. Enjoy... Read review

Advantages: Fantastic bassline. Original sounds. Good chioce of tracks.
Disadvantages: It's music designed for sound systems. Sound quality suffers.

...are new to dub might find otherwise a bit bare. Track 5, taken from ‘Original Rockers 2’, is the Real Rock rhythm that has over the years been used by a whole heap of artists including Dennis Brown, Anthony B and Turbulence. Its one of those catchy whistle-along tunes that you have heard before but can’t think where and it’s obvious why it’s been so successful. Track 6 is a conscious number dealing with repatriation and the vocals are those of Bongo Pat. ‘Young Generation’ is then followed by its dub counterpart ‘New Style’ where the lyrics have been replaced by familiar experimental dub sounds. Track 8 ‘Meditation Dub’ follows suite and again demonstrates the unusual sounds of the melodica and his ability to make it sound excellent. ‘Give Praise’ and ‘Silent Satta’ are both Lee Perry mixed classics and you’ll know the rhythm if you... Advantages: fun
Disadvantages: some stupid songs

...This album has the Best trance music ever, has all the classics plus the hits from the film, anyone who likes trance, dance or just summer tunes shoud buy this soundtrack, it instantionasly gets you in the mood for clubbing. I would definetly recomend to anyone into dance music to get this album and especially if you have seen the film "kevin and perry go large" as there is many hits from the film, the main one being "big girl" which is the track kevin and perry play as dj's in the film.
