Album Notes: DUBWISE features the entirety of the original CRY TUFF DUB ENCOUNTER PART 2, with the bountiful addition of eight bonus tracks. Prince Far I's dub productions here, with the Revolutionaries laying the rhythms, are among the most satisfying of the genre.
Album Reviews: Q (9/91) - 4 stars - Excellent \"...an excellent introduction to Far-I's beligerent, gravel-voiced toasting...dub reggae at its most uncompromising...\"
Advantages: great basslines and deep mood music Disadvantages: a little too political in parts
...I have many different musical tastes and am always happy to try something new.I purchased this cd a few years ago after enjoying various reggae tracks by various artists so thought i would expand my horizons and go for something a little deeper.
now dubwise and otherwise may not be to everyones taste of course but nonetheless if your a fan of seriously heavy basslines and mixed with that slow reggae beat we associate more with bob marley then this is a good cd to start with.
with 17 songs only totalling a running time of just under 55 minutes most songs are set to an average of three minutes so its pretty easy listening.
now i will point out that some of the songs(if not most) have political leanings but this is expected with dub music as a whole.with artists like king tubby and jah stitch, glen brown and tappa zukie to name but a few...

Advantages: Good strong tracks Disadvantages: Few naff fillers
...as it is iconic, one of the best selling singles of all time and a video which has become an absolute classic, who can forget the tear rolling down the cheek? 2. Mandinka
Without doubt, the song that launched Sineads career, an absolute stormer of a track, full of anger, energy and an unbelievable vocal range used to it's limits. For my mind Sineads greatest song, punky, yet kind of new age too, fab.
3. The emperors new clothes

Advantages: Good recording quality, and professional performances all round. Disadvantages: Pointless additional commerical tracks which bring the overall album quality down.
...to outdo each other with their vocal performances, making
the track far too 'busy'. The other cover versions, plus
'Humanity' are also disappointing, though Boyz II Men's
track 'I Will Get There' is pleasant enough.
In all, this is a CD with many positives: a wonderful
orchestral score from Hans Zimmer and solid songs from Stephen
Schwartz add up to a great whole. From the joyous 'Through
Heaven's Eyes' to the sinister yet comic 'Playing With The
Big Boys' and the breathtaking 'Red Sea', the recording is
an ever-more-interesting delight. For best results, use a
player which can be programmed to skip over the first track
and several of the final ones, leaving just the 'soundtrack
proper'....
