Advantages: Some tracks (Nat "King" Cole, Louis Armstrong) are priceless Disadvantages: Jimmy Durante? Celine Dion? Blecch!
...Soundtrax's "Sleepless in Seattle" should have been more enjoyable, or at least a bit more emotionally charged, but this Nora Ephron-Marc Shaiman produced album was more of a hit-and-miss affair at best. Yes, I like some of it, but in the end I found myself wishing I'd bought something nicer.
Unlike the similarly-themed "Music from the Motion Picture When Harry Met Sally..." there is no single artist who carries the 12-song album. Not having seen the entire film -- despite its frequent airings around Valentine's Day -- I can't say for certain if the same artists featured here (Jimmy Durante, Louis Armstrong, TammyWynette and Gene Autry, just to name a few) are heard in the movie's soundtrack. (While I am a big fan of movie soundtracks and do buy them because I like the movies they are from, I also buy them for just the music.)
To be fair...

Advantages: 38 good tracks - ideal for parties Disadvantages: none
...The cool sound of the 70's is a recently released double album containing 38 tracks from the 70's era. A great album which includes:-
Barry White - you're the first, my last, my everything
Fern Kinney - together we are beautiful (physio sport ad on tv)
Boney M - Rivers of babylon
TammyWynette - stand by your man
Brotherhood of man - save all your kisses for me
Dawn feat. Tony Orlando - tie a yellow ribbon round the ole oak tree
.....to name but a few cheesy numbers! This album will have you dancing in no time at all and no doubt make regular appearances at christmas parties and other such gatherings! If you like this sort of music, then it's definitely one for your collection....
