...After a year-long break in 2003, Williams returned with the third installment of the Harry Potter saga with renewed energy. His third Harry Potter score proved that Williams could still write music that can be original and extremely good. After the rehash of The Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban breaths new life into the music of Williams, featuring a more serious approach and almost completely devoid of the usual kiddie type music. At the core of the music is the song "Double Trouble" that is sung by a children's choir in a very unprofessional sounding way. The lyrics are taken from Shakespeare's Macbeth and further emphasises the medieval nature of the music's style that includes many ancient instruments courtesy of the Dufay Collective. ...The Cranberries. A band pretty knew and loved here in Italy (the sold-out in Bologna and Milano on April confirm this impression), which entered in my life in 1995. "Zombie" is the song of the summer '95 in Italy. A new sound, different from songs that were played in those months, a hard sound that Italians like. The cd single sold very well, remaining on the top of the charts for weeks and weeks. I like the song and I decide to buy the whole album "No need to argue". Now I can say, 7 years later, that it was the best cd I ever bought. Ok, I'm speaking as a Cranberries fan, but I think that anyone who listened to this cd can agree with me. It's a wonderful cd for the music and for lyrics. Before starting to analyse every single track from the album, I think it could be useful to explain in which context Dolores O'Riordan (singer... Disadvantages: Can be frightening for those only used to Bach

...Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971), is best known for his ground-breaking and hugely influential music for ballet. Indeed, 'The Rite of Spring' or 'Le Sacre du Printemps' is perhaps the best example of Stravinsky's challenging and provocative interpretation of the 'Brave New World'. 'The Rite' was premiered in the Theatre des Champs-Elysees in Paris (1913), and it all started well as a seemingly innocent bassoon melody floated out from the orchestral pit. What was to follow, however, was to shock and enrage the unprepared Parisian audience: pagan content, ritual sacrifice, wild choreography, savage and hugely unconventional music. This moment is a milestone in music history, and heralded (along with Schoenberg) a transformation in music: whilst once thought of as horrific, Stravinsky's music is now admired and is still perpetually influential...
