Also, the choirs in "Dusk And Her Embrace" are a really nice touch.
Cradle of Filth defintely have found the formula for their songs, and they don't look like changing it. The seem happy with the way their songs come out, but I find that the songs seem to blend together..

Advantages: The female vocalist in some of the songs Disadvantages: No songs seem to stand out
This album starts of pretty typical CofF style, with the eerie sounding synth-type thing, closely followed by "Heaven Torn Asunder" which is nicely structured, with the usual pounding drums, and dynamic vocals.
No song stands out as particularly bad on this album, but in reply to that, none of the tracks seem outstandingly brilliant. Sure, the guitar work, is technical and sounds pretty impressive, and the songs are well written, ... ...other. This could be because the songs are all pretty long, and the tempo changes often, giving the impression of a different song starting.
Saying that, I find "A Gothic Romance" a very impressive song.

Overall, the album is pretty well put together, even though no songs in particular stand out as being brilliant.
Advantages: Amazing album. It's that simple Disadvantages: None
with a blastbeat and an eleven second scream before slowing down to almost spoken lyircs. This song has a bit of everything.
"A Gothic Romance (Red Roses for the Devil's Whore) - The first half of this song is slow and then it kicks in. The song never gets that fast but it's all about atmosphere not speed.
"Malice Through the Looking Glass" - With the lyrics sung in screechingly high screams, deep growls and creepy whispers this song has it all. Featuring piano music it's a slower song.
"Dusk and HerEmbrace" - The title song of the album is one of the best. Dani's vocal talent on this one is wonderful and the lyrics match. Good drumming as well.
"The Graveyard by Moonlight" - A great instrumental full of character and eerie pianpo music that makes your skin crawl.
"Beauty Slept in Sodom" - You can hear the emotion in dani's voice more ...
Advantages: very original style of death metal, Dani's vocals Disadvantages: no songs seem to stand out.

Advantages: Complex music, great riffs, great male and female vocals Disadvantages: Swearing, 1 pointless track
an excelent album, with some classic songs on, while it is'nt nearly as memorable as earlier albums such as Dusk.... And HerEmbrace, and Cruelty and The Beast, its worth having if ;your a Cradle Of FIlth fan. ...

Album Notes
DUSK AND HER EMBRACE, Cradle of Filth's third release (and first domestically available title), was a shock to the metal system when it was released in 1996. Arguably the British sextet's best produced album, DUSK is a fright-fest; from Dani Filth's unearthly, high-pitched vocalizations to the ferocious, flash-of-the-blade, orchestrated time changes. With production duties handled by the ever-capable Kit Woolven (Thin Lizzy, Anathema, Cathedral), the band nimbly blurs the line between black metal and death metal, all with an ambient twist. Featuring a guest vocal performance by Venom frontman Cronos, DUSK is a benchmark release in the band's hyper-creative career.
