"Dusk and Her Embrace" - The title song of the album is one of the best. Dani's vocal talent on this one is wonderful and the lyrics match. Good drumming as well.
"The Graveyard by Moonlight" - A great instrumental full of character and eerie pianpo music that makes your skin crawl.

Advantages: Amazing album. It's that simple Disadvantages: None
I bought this with a few other cradle cds and this was the first one i played. The cover attracted me to play it first. What i heard shown me what everyone meant when they said their latest release "Thornography" was nothing compared to their old music.

"Humana Inspired to Nightmare" - A great introduction. Put together very well, it creates the atmosphere needed to get into the album.
"Heaven Torn Asunder" - One of the highlights of the album this is a great way to start it. A great guitar riff and tremendous vocals make this what it is

About the album
This was Cradle's third release and second full length album. It was loosely inspired by the writing of Sheridan Le Fanu and although vampires are not mentioned by name, the songs hint at a theme of vampirism.

"Humana Inspired to Nightmare" - A great introduction. Put together very well, it creates the atmosphere needed to get into the album.
"Heaven Torn Asunder" - One of the highlights of the album this is a great way to start it. A great guitar riff and tremendous vocals make this what it is
"Funeral in Carpathia" - Kicking in with a blastbeat and an eleven second scream before slowing down to almost spoken lyircs. This song has a bit of everything.
"A Gothic Romance (Red Roses for the Devil's Whore) - The first half of this song is slow and then it kicks in. The song never gets that fast but it's all about atmosphere not speed.
"Malice Through the Looking Glass" - With the lyrics sung in screechingly high screams, deep growls and creepy whispers this song has it all. Featuring piano music it's a slower song.
"Beauty Slept in Sodom" - You can hear the emotion in dani's voice more than any other song with this one. You know he means every word. Also having slow narration before a shrieking scream helps.
"Haunted Shores" - A longer song but one that fails to get boring or repetitive. Not a highlight of the album but a good ending.
Lyrics
The lyrics on this album are printed in full in the booklet along with quotes and pictures. There are a lot more lyrics per song with this album. They remain intelligent and leave images in your mind without becoming long lists of boring description.
Packaging
The packaging for this album is great. The front and back covers interested me straight away and the photos are tremendous. The greenish grey colour scheme of the front and back covers in continued within except for the disk which has a red photo.
Summary
The music hits you with force and it is much faster than their previous releases. Dani Filth's vocals are much more extreme and the songs are sung with passion. I listen to this regularly and enjoy it every time. Not quite as good as "Damnation and a day" but a very close second.
Advantages: The female vocalist in some of the songs Disadvantages: No songs seem to stand out
This album starts of pretty typical CofF style, with the eerie sounding synth-type thing, closely followed by "Heaven Torn Asunder" which is nicely structured, with the usual pounding drums, and dynamic vocals.
No song stands out as particularly bad on this album, but in reply to that, none of the tracks seem outstandingly brilliant. Sure, the guitar work, is technical and sounds pretty impressive, and the songs are well written, but they just don't seem to stand out from each other. This could be because the songs are all pretty long, and the tempo changes often, giving the impression of a different song starting.
Saying that, I find "A Gothic Romance" a very impressive song.
Also, the choirs in "Dusk And HerEmbrace" are a really nice touch.

Advantages: very original style of death metal, Dani's vocals Disadvantages: no songs seem to stand out.
"Dusk And HerEmbrace" are a really nice touch.
Cradle of Filth defintely have found the formula for their songs, and they don't look like changing it. The seem happy with the way their songs come out, but I find that the songs seem to blend together..
Overall, the album is pretty well put together, even though no songs in particular stand out as being brilliant. ...
Advantages: Complex music, great riffs, great male and female vocals Disadvantages: Swearing, 1 pointless track
an excelent album, with some classic songs on, while it is'nt nearly as memorable as earlier albums such as Dusk.... And HerEmbrace, and Cruelty and The Beast, its worth having if ;your a Cradle Of FIlth fan. ...
