Advantages: Punk, punk and more punk Disadvantages: No Clash!?!
...I brought this ablum just as I was getting into 70's/80's punk but knew very few of the less mainstream bands (just bands like the clash and the sex pistols), so I bought it. I wasn't disapointed with most of the songs on this compalation but there are a few the weren't my thing.
So I got home put it on, the first track was the much over played "Anarchy in the UK", which is the first political punk song but one of the 1st punk bands, so I suppose it had to be on there. The rest of the songs I'd never heard and only reconised some of the bands.
There is a real mix of punk from political to punk-pop to Oi! and gives you a real feel for the punk scene at that time. Some of the better band i found on this compalation are Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks, The Stranglers and Cockney Rejects. My favourite track being "The Greatest Cockney Rip...

Advantages: Great album Disadvantages: Might blow out speakers due to excessive rocking out
...There have been a couple of Sublime tribute albums floating around for awhile, but this is by far the best one. Of course you can never out do Bradley Nowell, the king. But what you can do is get a bunch of friends together and jam to all of the greatest song of Sublime in rememberance.
Jack Johnson starts off this tribute with a melodic version of "Badfish" and transcends the song into "Boss DJ". Then other greats such as Michael Franti from Spearhead, Fishbone, No Doubt, The Ziggens, G Love, Ozomatli, Pennywise and Los Lobos give their versions on songs like "What I Got", "Date Rape", " Doin' Time", "Pawn Shop", "Paddle Out", "Greatest Hits", "April 29th 1992".
Avail does an awesome twist with "Santeria" by adding a more punk feel to it.
This album is full of alot of great ska, punk, rock, and reggae all in the style of Sublime....

Advantages: Great tribute to a great composer. Disadvantages: Not suitable to anyone who isn't familiar with Morricone's music.
...I think the title of this album should be considered a solid fact. We do all love Ennio Morricone! He's easily one of the best composers of recent times, and hundreds of films would be lost without his music.
Despite not giving a full picture of Morricone's work, i think this is still a great tribute album. The fact that artists from Celine Dion, to Bruce Springsteen, to Metallica, ahve come forward to pay their tributes shows the extent to which Morricone has touched the world.
I found out about this tribute from the Metallica website when they announced they'd recorded their own version of "Ecstasy Of Gold", and I immediately bought it. Ecstasy of Gold, and Bruce Springsteen's "Once Upon A Time In The West" are my favourite tracks on the album, but they all have their strengths. At that, I wouldn't say that any of the artists...
