EP Collection, The - Johnny & The Hurricanes

Advantages: Good collectors item, shows a more "raw" Hole
Disadvantages: Only four songs!

...The First Session CD, is an EP containing four tracks: Retard Girl (Hole's first single) Phone Bill Song Turpentine (First ever Hole song recorded) Johnnies in the bathroom (a spooky spoken track) Similar in style to the album, Pretty on the Inside, this CD features the more 'raw' Hole. Lead singer Courtney Love rasps and screams the lyrics attacking your ears with her fierce sound. If you prefer the sweeter sounds of Live through This or Celebrity Skin, this might not be the best buy. This CD would make a great collector's item for a fan of Hole - as well as completing your CD collection, the inside booklet also features a full printed interview with the band as well as several photographs from Hole's early days. One of the problems of the CD is the shortness of it but this is easily explained as it IS an EP and is easily made up... Read review

Advantages: Brilliant, Cute, Poppy Lyrics & Catchy Melodies.
Disadvantages: Reworked tracks sounded better on EP

...After being featured in the Rolling Stones Top 10 for 2008, and the BBC's Ones To Watch list, Black Kids album was deffinatly one i was looking out for, and when i finally got round to buying and listening to the album, i was not disapointed! Carrying over tracks from the EP such as "Hit the Heartbrakes", "Hurricane Jane", "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend...", and "I've Underestimated My Charm", already sets off the album to a great start with fantastic, established tracks, however none of the new tracks i felt were good enough to live up to the hype surrounding the first EP. Regardless, i would say this is a album well worth owning, sing and dance along tracks like the fantastic single "I'm Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend", aren't going to change your life, or make you want to get up off your sofa and make a difference... Advantages: Unique and interesting
Disadvantages: Not many original songs

...If you are new to Marilyn Manson's music then this isn't the best way to start. It doesn't contain many original songs and is very different to his other work. However if you are looking for something unique and interesting then this is a very good ep. An absolute must have for Diehard fans, this is worth every penny. "Dope Hat" and "Sweet dreams" are highlights of the ep although each song has it's own selling point. The main allure of this cd is it's originality and the fact that although it's songs are very different they flow together well to make a pleasurable listen. My copy hasn't had as many spins as his other albums but it still an important part of my collection and i am sure will remain as one. Thanks for reading Joe 2007... Read review
