Mariah's ability to break records is unprecedented and she recently became the first woman and first solo artist to obtain 18 number 1 singles in the US. Mariah's soaring vocal acrobatics and unbelievable five octave vocal range have kept her career afloat for nearly 20 years, but with so many new female artists entering the music industry many question whether Mariah can remain relevant in today's market. Well E=MC2 definitely proves that she is as relevant to music as ever. This is aided by the fact that she cleverly collaborates with some of the biggest producers in hip-hop and r&b such as Jermaine Dupri, Brian Michael Cox and Will.i.am.

The song 'Bye Bye' which is the next single to be released from E=MC2 is incredibly touching and is dedicated to those who have lost a loved one. Just thinking about that song makes my eyes water, it is a beautiful ballad which showcases not only Mariah's vocal athletics but also her fantastic song-writing ability. The song was inspired by the death of Mariah's father Alfred Roy Carey, although the song is personal to Mariah she dedicates it to everyone who has experienced some type of loss, "this is for my peoples who just lost somebody, your best-friend, your baby, your man or your lady, put your hands to the sky because we will never say bye bye." 'Bye Bye' is like an anthem for the deceased, its ability to touch hearts is likely to make it a number one hit. And this song definetly deserves it.

The final song of the album 'Wish You Well' is a gospel flavoured ballad which is reminiscent of Mariah's classic songs such as ''Fly Like A Bird and 'Vanishing'. 'Wish You Well' is just Mariah and a piano and the result is a soul shaking ballad. This song deals with forgiving those who hurt you and has the classic Mariah vocals (including her famous whistle register). For those critics (or 'haters' as I call them) who claim that Mariah can no longer sing, this song proves them oh so wrong and even the 'haters' would admit that her voice is like no other.

E=MC2 proves that Mariah has evolved in every shape and form and is a threat to be reconned with. She is not just a slow-ballad singer, or an r&b songstress, she is one of few artists who can switch from genre to genre, style to style and sit comfortably in different places. This is what makes her so fantastic as a singer, song-writer and entertainer- she is dynamic and multidimensional. She is also one of few musicians nowadays who actually write their own albums and have a direct input in its sound, style and lyrical content.

Overally I have thoroughly enjoyed this album and would certainly recommend it! Its generally a brilliant album, nearly all of the songs are incredible though the album has one or two weak songs. Highlights of the album include Loving You Long Time, Bye Bye, Stay In Love, I'm That Chick and I Wish You Well.
