Advantages: A very haunting album to listen to and very relaxing Disadvantages: Track 11 could be longer
Paint the Sky with Stars by Enya is a classic album. Every track is excellent and so relaxing to listen to, one song just flows into another and great to listen to when you want to unwind after a hard day’s work. She has a haunting voice that gives me a tickle on the back of my neck; I could listen to her for hours. Let me take you through the album. Track one: The famous ‘Orinoco Flow’ this is a chirpy song and the chorus line every so often ‘Sail ... ...drums. What a great choice for the start of the album. Track two: ‘Caribbean Blue’ with its soft strumming guitar start, and then she starts to sing. Her voice is something else. If you close your eyes you can imagine the tide ebbing in and out, I can almost feel the water lapping around my feet. Track three: ‘Book of Days’ a piano plays all the way through this very catchy track and the background choristers really compliment Enya here. Track four: ...

I bought this album from my local store and i have got to say that i wasn't overly impressed by this offering from Joe but the more you listen to it, the more you get a sense of the musical genius of Satch. Overall its a very mysterious album with some funky songs. But it seems like Joe is content with continuing to do what he is good at and not branching out like most other contemporary artist e.g Vai, Johnson and Gilbert which is fine by me but ... ...Good points include catchy tunes like 'I Just Wanna Rock' and 'Diddle-Y-A-Doo-Dat' that make this album exciting whereas ballads such as 'Andulusia' give the album a bit of drama and sadness. Mysterious tunes include 'Musterion' give the album a bit of edge.
Bad points include a lack of experimentation and the fact that Joe seems content with this. Never the less this is a good album that Joe Satriani fans like myself will be content with.

...albums (including some duets). Una Mattina is his seventh album, and contains all new tracks. 'Una Mattina' translates as 'one morning' and the music is as simple as this title. It is another of his solo piano albums, although it does feature the cello in some tracks. It flows where you expect it to, although not in a boring way. The music ripples along, and the cello brings real emotion in certain tracks. The subtle variations in the music and tempo ... ...a suite of pieces. The music is very calming and relaxing, and evokes feelings of peace and tranquility. It is suitable as background music, or simply to listen and relax to.
A few people might recognise one of the tracks, Nuvole Bianche from a TV advert for Baci chocolates, used at Christmas time last year. This and 'Ora' are my favourite tracks, although 'A Fuoco' featuring cello makes a close second. The cello tracks (played by Marco Decimo) ...

...on this album are The Celts, I Want Tomorrow (with a bizarre electric guitar solo half way through), Fairytale, March of the Celts and Boadicea. This album laid the foundations for a hugely succesful career and let us know just how talented she is. Die hard Enya fans will know that there is actually two versions of this album available. Advantages: If you want music to help you sleep, think, make you fall in love, THIS IS IT! Disadvantages: None so far, except maybe you could get too hooked to it..it can become an OBSESSION!
