Strange, but Beautiful... Advantages: One of the greatest instrumental guitarists of all time Disadvantages: Not quite an essential, "must have" album To guitarists world-wide, the name Joe Satriani is synonymous with words like technique, speed, melody and "how-the-hell-did-he-do-that?!". A gifted guitarist and musician, Joe Satriani has been releasing he unique style of rock/metal for two decades. 'Strange Beautiful Music' was released in 2002 and, like most of Satriani's studio releases is an instrumental album and as such finds Joe playing various styles and types of guitar, from his normal ... ...reggae-esque style with many different things in between. Thrown into the mix are banjos, keyboards and what been credited as a 'Frippitronic' guitar, (played by Robert Fripp of King Crimson himself no less). Quite what a Frippitronic guitar is I'm not entirely sure, but Fripp's appearance on the album is impressive, even if it is for only one track. Vai is back!! Advantages: Very toned guitar riffs with loads of effects makes it spectacular Disadvantages: Can be a-bit repeatative at parts Steve vai is a World famous guitarist. He is American and has played guitar since he was a kidso it goes without saying that he is great at what he does. His playing takes many different tones but they are all designed to capture the listeners emotions. This CD has a very rock feel to it but it captures lots of emotions from Love to sorrow. Steve has been in many bands since he was a kid. This is his most recent album with his band"steve Vai" ... ...Guitar: Dave Weiner Drums: Jeremy Colson The band really work together producing one of the best linups yet. This CD is great. Its like a guitar solo as a song a purely great peice of musical talent and a must have for all guitar players. The starting song "building the Church" is a great opener and makes you want to keep listening and it only gets better as the crunchy guitsr tones meet the more exicting whamy bar action. Is there love in ciao? Advantages: complex guitar work, beautiful melodys, its different Disadvantages: lack of lyrics for the most part Is there Love in Space, was Joe Satriani's ninth studio album! Yes! 9th!, Satriani as well as being very talented, and diverse when it comes to song creation, it also appears he is very prolific, which is great for us Satch fans. Is The Loves In Space was released in 2004, but as with most of Joe's albums did not recieve a particularly large amount of chart success, It appears that the people of earth are not ready for SATCH just yet! Tracks ... ...in Flames-4:33- Yes now this is more like it!, This song is exactly what u expect from Satch these days, Very cool rememberable melodys tipped off with smooth wah wah and overdrive, this is one of my favourite songs on the album, it shows Satriani's ability to develop a simple melody over and over again, turning it into something mad! a great song which shows some very difficult guitar techniques, if u try play it im sure you will agree! 3. Different, but still great Advantages: Superb all round album Disadvantages: haven't found any yet When the inlay card mentioned lots of samples on a Steve Vai album, the worry set in. Now I ask myself why, OK Stevie is trying to move with the times, but he's still at the top of the tree when it comes to playing guitar, no matter what the backing is like. And 'Ultra Zone' doesn't dissapoint on the guitar front. JiBoom and Windows of the Soul are brilliant for the solos and songs like Lucky Charms and Voodoo Acid show the guys diversity.
