Enya's debut album
Review of Celts, The - Enya by jwalter83

Advantages: Soothing compositions. Early taste of Enya's talent
Disadvantages: Now sounding slightly dated.

...on this album are The Celts, I Want Tomorrow (with a bizarre electric guitar solo half way through), Fairytale, March of the Celts and Boadicea. This album laid the foundations for a hugely succesful career and let us know just how talented she is. Die hard Enya fans will know that there is actually two versions of this album available. The original BBC Records release from 1987 featuring a black and white photo of Enya on the front and the 1992 ... Read review

A definite highlight of the Liquid Mind series
Review of Liquid Mind Vol.3 (Balance) - Chuck Wild by jwalter83

Advantages: Well produced, highly relaxing album
Disadvantages: None

Liquid Mind is the creation of former 'Missing Persons' keyboardist Chuck Wild. Following his time in the group he moved on to music production and worked with many notable muscians during the late 80s and early 90s. Wild says that he originally wrote the Liquid Mind music to help himslef and close family to cope with their stressful lives. This relaxing series is now on its 8th album and 'Liquid Mind III: Balance' is a definate highlight of the ...
...are all there in this album: slow rhythmless pieces, slow chord progressions and wonderful drifting synthersizers. The whole album has an overall postive feel to it that will help even the most stressed of people to chill out at the end of the day and even the most sleepless to get a good nights sleep. If you have been looking for ambient or new-age music and have been unimpressed with what you have found so far then may I recommend this CD. It ... Read review

Not quite as good as the rest of the series
Review of Liquid Mind Vol.2 (Slow World) - Chuck Wild by jwalter83

Advantages: Good at what it does.
Disadvantages: Not quite as developed as the other albums in the series

...there in this, the second Liquid Mind album, from Chuck Wild. The premise of Slow World is basically the same as the other albums in the series. Long slow compositions to help people unwind at the end of a stressful day. However, unlike in the previous album, and the many that followed, this album seems to be less developed. The music has a slightly darker feel to it and doesn't come close to the spacey, positive feel of Ambience Minimus. The three ...
...the case on more recent Liquid Mind releases. If you are just getting into Liquid Mind then this is not a good place to start. For this may I suggest the wonderful 'Ambience Minimus'. This album is for the die hard fans that feel they have to own every album by a certain artist and that is admittedly why I bought it. ... Read review

Weakest Adiemus album.
Review of Adiemus V - Vocalise - Adiemus by jwalter83

Advantages: Some good tracks in the traditional Adiemus style
Disadvantages: Weak vocalists replacing the brilliant Miriam Stockley. Too many different instruments, styles and languages.

...between this and the earlier Adiemus releases is the absence of lead singer Miriam Stockley. Her unique voice added much to the music. The Finnish Adiemus singers (previously used on Adiemus III: Dances of Time) do an OK job but just cannot compare to Miss Stockley. We are also subjected to various guest vocalists, who in my opinion, just didn't cut it. I just don't think Karl Jenkins put in 100% on this album. The first half of the album is definatey ...
...different vocalists, instruments and languages all vying for a spot there seems to be very little consistency. This seems to be the weakest album in the Adiemus series. I have owned this album since its release in 2003 and have listened to it from beginning to end just twice. ... Read review

Taste of the East
Review of Concerts In China - Jean Michel Jarre by atytyut2434

Advantages: Musically a new direction
Disadvantages: Finding the claim to have written a new track wasn't true

...permission to play there. Concerts In China was a double album and double cd recorded live across various venues in Peking & Shanghai. Jarre was granted membership of The Peking Conservatoire Orchestra and his very 1st action as a member was to immediately sample various Chinese instruments taking great delight in finding new sounds to explore and play with. The album has both old and new tracks with the older tracks coming from Magnetic Fields ...
...is a great mixture of new and old sounds and is just as good today as when it was made. The concerts gave Jean-Michel one of his biggest mass audiences ever as it was broadcast to over 50 million people on Chinese radio. This review also appears on Dooyoo. ... Read review
