Advantages: Some superb tracks with very thought-provoking lyrics Disadvantages: A couple of slightly 'iffy' tracks
...Russell’s 8th studio album – People Get Ready – is the album I am now going to review and is a mixture of soul music, rock and easy listening. Track 1 – Me and Mrs Jones
‘Mr and Mrs Jones’ has a very soulful feeling from the very beginning and the backing track must get the initial credit for this. As the singing kicks in however it is very clear that Russell has all the ability necessary to continue this feeling throughout and proceeds to ... ... Track 4 – People Get Ready
This is probably my favourite track on the album and the one that gives the album it’s name. The soft and delicate backing track is simple yet effective and gives the vocals the right amount of emphasis. The vocals themselves are outstanding in my opinion and the power behind them is immense. It is the lyrics themselves however that I think really make this track, as the emotion that is packed behind them is truly ...

Russell Watson has made a great CD here. I am not a classical music fan and only bought this CD for one song that was on it. I must say that I have been very plesantly suprised by the content.
The CD contains 16 tracks which are:-

2 Volare
3 The Prayer - with Lulu
4 O sole mio
5 Ave Maria
6 Mattinata
7 Pelagia's Song - Captain Corelli's Mandolin

16 Where my heart will take me - Theme from Enterprise
Track 16, Where my heart will take me is the real reason for buying this as me and my husband both liked the song after watching the series Enterprise and then we say Russell perform this at the opening ceremony for the Manchester Commonwealth Games and it really did just blow us away.
I find that Lulu and Lionel Ritchie would seem quite odd ...
Advantages: His voice is a pleasure to listen to on all tracks. Disadvantages: "Solitaire" is a glaring omission from this album.
Born in the state of Iowa, U.S.A. in 1927 Andy Williams is truly one of the greatest ballad singers of all time.
His easy almost effortless style belies the fact that his talent and level of performance puts him right up there with the likes of Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett and Bing Crosby.
His rendtions of Moon River and Solitaire (Solitaire sadly not on this album) are two of the greatest musical performances of the twentieth century.
This album ... ...work including some of the more poppy songs such as "Somethin' Stupid" and "Can't Get Used To Losing You" as well as his 2002 duet of "Can't Take My Eyes Of You" with Denise Van Outen.
It also includes many marvellous songs such as "Moon River", "Danny Boy", "It's So Easy", "Born Free" and "Almost There".
The album will give you the chance to appreciate what a fine singer he is and how he can make a great song into a classic performance.

Advantages: A unique, fresh voice. Handsome guy. Will be around for a long time. Disadvantages: His first effort is not bad and subsequent CD's get better.
After the release of The Voice, Classic FM refused to give it airplay. Was it because it was too radical? How can one mix opera and popular music in one CD? And who was Russell Watson, anyway?
Fans protested, Classic FM changed its mind and played what the people wanted to hear, and Russell Watson ended up winning at The Classical Brit Awards that year, and the kudos have not stopped.
The Voice is a mix of arias and popular music covers. The choice ... ...Fantasia, and Amor ti Vieta. His voice, phrasing, and control are all superb. The orchestrations are good and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra does a fine job. The Voice is a good place to start if you are thinking about adding Russell Watson's music to your collection. ...
