The second single from the album, "Long Road to Ruin", takes a good few listens before it gets to the mark of The Pretender, possibly because it doesn't have the 'up-and-at-them' attitude that a number of previous Foo Fighters singles have had (Monkey Wrench, Breakout, All My Life). When he formed the Foo Fighters out of the remnants of Nirvana back in 1995 not even Dave Grohl could have foreseen what was to come for them. Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace/ I used to listen to the foo fighters a while back, but didn't hear much of them again until recently when their new album (number 6) was released. Im not going to lie, I was hesitant about the purchase, but I paid my £12.99 and got on with it. I listened to it as soon as I got home and I was not dissapointed. ...chosen pre-release, but personally I believe there are better tracks than this on the album. May have been a clever marketing ploy so not to dissapoint; who knows. Anyway, the track overall is pretty damn good. From my dooyoo review Foo Fighters are a great band. There is no denying that. I saw them live and they blew me away. In a music industry that is dominated by "indie" music it is refreshing that albums like this still gain the respect that they deserve. Some of the tracks are better than others. ...the one most are familiar with. I love the intro to the song as it is much softer than the rest of the song. This means that when it does kick in you feel it. The head sharts swaying and personally I just want to jam along! I can see why it was the first single. Its catchy, rocky and very uplifting. Its a song that you feel compelled to sing along to.
