Advantages: A new Foo Fighter album Disadvantages: Too laid-back for the traditional fan
Here comes the sixth studio album by who many consider as one of, it not the, biggest rock band on the planet at the moment - The Foo Fighters. But how does "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace" fair with it's predecessors?
Released in September 2007 after a couple years away just playing every venue in the world it seemed, the album was greeted with great anticaption. Opening track "The Pretender" was the first single taken from the album, and despite ... ...1 it's still worth a listen as it is a genuinely top track. The second single from the album, "Long Road to Ruin", takes a good few listens before it gets to the mark of The Pretender, possibly because it doesn't have the 'up-and-at-them' attitude that a number of previous Foo Fighters singles have had (Monkey Wrench, Breakout, All My Life). But don't think for a minute that it's a 'lesser' song - it's not.
The band showed with their previous album, ...

Advantages: Quite possibly the best album yet. Superb blend of hard Rock tracks and acoustic Disadvantages: None at all
When he formed the Foo Fighters out of the remnants of Nirvana back in 1995 not even Dave Grohl could have foreseen what was to come for them. Now 12 years on they are just about to release their 6th Studio album and things couldn't be better. They are one of if not the best band in the world at the moment and seem to be getting better with every release. The release of Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace sees the Foo fighters expand on an already ... ...stead to increase their reputation.
One thing that seems to have been consistent throughout the bands 6 studio albums and other releases is the ability to innovate and improve their overall sound. The Foo Fighters seem to have tried a number of different styles of music and what ever they try they seem to pull it off. They are one of the few bands that seem to be able to enhance and move their sound on rather than becoming stagnant with a set sound. ...

Advantages: Constistency- Every track is amazing: no weak links. Disadvantages: Im afraid there are none.
Echoes, Silence, Patience, and Grace/
I used to listen to the foo fighters a while back, but didn't hear much of them again until recently when their new album (number 6) was released. Im not going to lie, I was hesitant about the purchase, but I paid my £12.99 and got on with it. I listened to it as soon as I got home and I was not dissapointed.
The Pretender/
This track was pre-released before the album, so you could say that I bought the album ... ...chosen pre-release, but personally I believe there are better tracks than this on the album. May have been a clever marketing ploy so not to dissapoint; who knows. Anyway, the track overall is pretty damn good. Starts off quietly, then gets faster and is overall a brilliant track, that features a great mix of vocals and instruments that work in harmony. 7/10
Let It Die/
A similar musical pattern to the pretender in the way it slowly gets louder, ...

Foo's on top again! Review ofEchoes Silence Patience And Grace - Foo Fightersby

Advantages: A brilliant rock album Disadvantages: NONe
From my dooyoo review
Foo Fighters are a great band. There is no denying that. I saw them live and they blew me away. In a music industry that is dominated by "indie" music it is refreshing that albums like this still gain the respect that they deserve. Some of the tracks are better than others. Thats expected and all depends upon individual opinion! It is the track order that really make this album special. It just seems right!
The album kicks ... ...the one most are familiar with. I love the intro to the song as it is much softer than the rest of the song. This means that when it does kick in you feel it. The head sharts swaying and personally I just want to jam along! I can see why it was the first single. Its catchy, rocky and very uplifting. Its a song that you feel compelled to sing along to. Some other tracks to note are "Erase/Replace" and "Let it die". They follow pretender and carry ...

Additional notes
Album Notes: Sixth album from probably the most recognizable and popular band in American rock follows 2005's double set 'In Your Honour' and 2006's unplugged live effort 'Skin And Bones'. This release features a strong 70s stadium rock influence and sees the band letting rip and rocking out, with occasional moments of calm which highlight the depth and maturity of Dave Grohl's songwriting. Recorded with Gil Norton, who produced their breakout album 'The Colour And The Shape', it includes the single 'The Pretender'.
