Advantages: Fantastic read and unstoppable Disadvantages: Struggling to put the book down!
Vince & Joy
This is the first book I have read by Lisa Jewell and certainly won't be the last. Vince & Joy is a fun, girly love story and was a fantastic read. I first came across the novel whilst in WH Smith, looking for a new read for a long journey. This particular book caught my eye as the cover looked fun and creative. After reading the back of the book, I decided I had to find out what happened with Joy and Vince.
** What's the story about? **
The story is based on two main characters, Vince and Joy. The story begins when Vince is having a meal with his closest friends and they are discussing past relationships and focuses mainly on his first true-love, Joy. The story then goes back a few years and describes the moment Vince first met Joy when they were both staying at a caravan park with their families in a small village ...
Advantages: Very believable Disadvantages: hard to put down - you may get nothing else done while reading
Lisa Jewel is quite a modern writer, a writer of chick lit, some of her other titles include 'One Hit Wonder' and 'Friend of the Family'.
Jewell has got quite a knack of writing about quirky, but believable, characters - I remember her doing it in previous 2 titles I mentioned, and she did it in this one too. She doesn't just write a straightforward character, who may or may not be believable. Instead, she chooses to write characters with flaws, a sort of warts and all character assassination.
This particular book, funnily enough, is about a boy called Vince and a girl called Joy. They were each other's first loves, but lost touch wih each other. They met at a caravan park when Vince was 19 and Joy was 17, fell in love, but Joy and her family had to leave in a hurry after a particular incident involving her dad. By the time Vince ...
Advantages: Awesome gameplay - great graphics - sing a long soundtrack - packed with levels Disadvantages: None
Voodoo Vince - Feel his pain! This game can only be found on the X-Box and is one of those games that once played on a friends machine will instantly make you want to go out and buy your own - yes, this is a good game and yes - it is one of the few platform games available on the console.
I bought my copy of Voodoo Vince for £19.99 for a brand new copy from Game - this isn't one you will find hanging around in the pre-owned section - everyone who has played it doesn't want to let it go - the gameplay is superb.
The game itself is pretty standard as far as platform games go - you have to defeat the evil king and prgress through various levels in the same way as the earlier Mario games for the Nintendo - the difference being instead of using hidden weapons - power ups and a variety of other gizmos - Vince uses voodoo on his enemies ...
