There are several reasons for me to listen to music. Background music, shaking my moneymaker, reflecting my emotions (gangster rap usually fits that bill), music to inspire or motivate and just an alternative to the dreaded idiot box. The final type is the sort of music that acts like a bucket full of sand poured into my boxers. I try to ignore it, but it completely consumes everything else that I have ever listened to. Good examples are ‘The ... ...The very fabric of my daily existence is destroyed and all credibility that I once possessed crumbles like a packet of Digestives as I hum Five’s re-rendering of ‘We Will Rock You’ totally oblivious to the adolescent giggling of my colleagues in the office.
Wyclef Jean manages to produce music that snugly fits every single one of those criteria. His album, ‘The Ecleftic’ proves that it is possible to avoid swearing ...

WYCLEF JEAN WHY NOT Review ofEcleftic, The (2 Sides 2 A Book) [ECD] - Wyclef Jeanby
nikcook
Advantages: A masterly diverse journey through musical styles Disadvantages: None
Wyclef Jean “The Ecleftic - 2 Sides II A Book” Columbia
After falling in love with a masterly piece of R&B called “911”, my girlfriend told me that she must buy the song, despite not knowing the artists.
So being a top guy like I am (and knowing how to bank loads of browny points) off I went to my local CD shop and invested in Wyclef Jean’s “The Ecleftic - 2 Sides II A Book” on the strength of one song.
With that sort of ‘look what I’ve done for ... ...on my Kenwood and instantly went up a couple of levels in her good book. (Pathetic I know, but it worked).
I then played the whole CD and sat astonished at what I was listening to. A piece of musical brilliance.
Whether you are a hip-hop fan or not, if you admire good music and pure talent you will appreciate this offering from larger than life character Wyclef Jean.
With so many artists bringing out CDs with ten tracks (if you’re lucky) or fewer, ...

Advantages: A good intro to hip hop, friendly - funny too! Disadvantages: I want the fugees back!!!
When the fugees announced they were doing solo projects, I had mixed feelings. The fugees' unique mix of hip hop and other styles made them one of the finest hip hop bands, so I was hoping that the score wasn't going to be the last offering from them...
We have been promised many times (and even in the opening track of ecleftic) that the fugees will reform, but we have yet to see that unfortunatly.
It wasn't much of a problem though, because the ... ...Lauren Hill's album was the most commercial (but excellent with it), Wyclefs was the most complete and Pras' showed that he wasn't to be seen as the quiet one, but a very talented one.
So I was happy with the first round of albums, and ready for the next fugee album, which was rumoured to reach us in 2000... still waiting!
But one excellent album that did reach us was Ecleftic... Wyclef's second solo offering. We were first granted a sneak peek ...

Someone please call 911 Review ofEcleftic, The (2 Sides 2 A Book) [ECD] - Wyclef Jeanby
whoareyou5
Advantages: It has 911 on it Disadvantages: It has 'The Rock' on it
I have to say that my expectations of this album were a lot higher than what I got. I initially bought it because I love the song 911, and I hoped that there would be some other great tunes like that on it. I was not a fan of It Doesn't Matter with The Rock, but still I thought it would be a good listen. One of the main reasons I bought it was because you can buy it for £8.99 with free delivery from cd-wow.com, so I snapped it up. I don't mean to ... ...it another listen today, but I think that some of the rap just isn't my scene. I would advise borrowing it before buying it, or if you were into The Fugees a lot, then you may as well go ahead a buy it. There are some amusing interludes on it. ...

Dont call 911 Review ofEcleftic, The (2 Sides 2 A Book) [ECD] - Wyclef Jeanby
Golden_groin2001
Advantages: The tracks in general Disadvantages: Lack of the fugees
The Album Ecleftic is classed as amazing by some fans and I am not going to dis-agree. It has some great tracks on it including "It doesnt matter" featuring WWF's very own Dwayne Johnson aka. The Rock. The best track on the album for me has to be 911, the way it is solemn and quiet and then can all of a sudden erupt into a catchy chorus that will have even your grandparents singing. The only thing that is bringing the track down slightly is the singing ...
