Eggs are amazing - who would have thought that something that comes out of a chickens bum would be so tasty and so versatile in the kitchen ? In fact, I often wonder who the first person was to actually EAT an egg, and why they did it. In Britain, we eat nearly 10 billion eggs a year; that's 26 million every day, so they're clearly a favourite food here!
Chicken eggs are the most commonly eaten eggs in the uk , although there are many more edible eggs - duck, goose, quail and ostrich to name a few. Generally speaking though, most of us stick to the chicken eggs found in the supermarket - and generally fall into three categories - Battery or Caged eggs, Barn Eggs, or Free Range eggs . I'll briefly explain the categories for those who may now know them .

Advantages: Easy to cook and occasionally tasty Disadvantages: Death, doom, gloom and smelly farts
If you had asked me fifteen years ago if I ever thought I'd be sitting at a computer writing a review of eggs at any point in my life, I'd have probably jumped on your head, gotten chocolate smeared down your best dress and started crying when you told me off. Well, I was 6. Got to wonder what all you blokes were doing in that dress though eh? Each to their own I suppose!
If you've never had an egg before then I firstly have to welcome you to the planet and implore you to try the Sambuca. Then I need to explain a little about where they come from (unless you are all oologists).

I INTRODUCE THE HUMBLE EGG
I think that eggs are taken for granted too much. Let's face it they are the ultimate fast food!! All contained in it's perfect natural and biodegradable package are protein, vitamins and minerals - fairly low in saturated fat - they can make a meal in seconds and can be used in so many different ways. The humble egg is one of the most nutritious foods you can buy and at around 80 calories per egg they are great if you're on a diet or trying to eat a healthy diet.
The poor old egg took a bit of a bashing in the 1980's with the Salmonella scare and there are still many people worry about using eggs, especially raw but they are really safe now.
I am lucky enough to live near to a farm where I can go and buy my free range eggs virtually direct from the chicken - their rich yellow, almost orange ...
