**What Is It?** Salsa Celtica is the fantstic latin/folk/jazz cross scottish band. This CD contains 9 songs lasting about 50 mintutes.
**About the Band?** Salsa Celtica was formed in 1995 by scottish musicans interested in jazz and scottish music. Since then they have performed all over Scotland including T in the Park, Glastonbury, The Highland Festival and lots more. The last 12 years have seen them performing all over Scotland but your are most likely to see them in either Glasgow or Edinburgh. They even performed in the Hogmany celebrations infront of 40,00 scots, on BBC Scotland! But the best until last they where in the movie "Driving Lessons" with Harry potter star Rupert grint and Julie Walters. They where playing the in the backround in one of the scottish clubs! So when you listen to track one and have seen "Driving Lessons" you'll probilbly rememeber it!
**Where I Heard About Them?** I heard about them through a SNP mate who had seen them in a club is Glasgow. There was apprently hundreds of people dancing in all different styles but most where doing latin salsa, although i heard there was alot of scottish dancing going on! They are supposed to do the most amazing live shows! Also on driving lessons as well as i googled to see if it was them and it was! Look out for them in the backround. Think i may try and get tickets!
**The CD Cover?** The CD cover has most of the musicans of Salsa Celtica standing outside a cafe in what i assume is in Ediburgh as i think i reconise it. Anyway inside you havve the bright red CD. Then you get the little leaflet which has about the band and little translations of their songs. And there big promomotion poster. It looks bright and noticable in my CD collection so i think it will do the same for you.
**Tracklist** 1. Cumbria Celtica (My favourite song, very lively and passionate music) 2. El Sol De La noche (Meaning the Midnight sun, a very traditonal love song with a salsa twist) 3. Guajira Sin Sol (Starts of slow and acoustic then goes immediately into jazz) 4. Elaugua De La Vida (Meaning: Water Of Life. The most scottish song, one of my favorites, it plays an accordion with a jazz band!) 5. Whisky Con Ron (The most relaxing one and calmest. It has alot of folk and jazz, if you know spanish, it tells of the story of women and whisky in the sun!) 6. Ave Maria De Escolia Medley (Meaning:Hail Mary of Scotland Medley. This has every genre mentioned playing from acousitc, to folk to jazz to scottish!) 7. Maestro (Meaning:Maestro. The jazziest song on the album. The voice talent are incredible with this one) 8. Adios Adios (Meaning:Farewell Farewell. A piano playing althrough this one and singing with a jazz drum beat in the backround. A love song with a calm beat) 9. Auld Lang Syne (Starts out with a beautiful violin rendition of Auld Lang Syne then moves onto a soft jazz version. Then gets onto a heavy, fast beat, fun finale of the auld scots song. A great finale.
**Music Quality?** Its fantastic. Cannot fault it, its been recorded in a good recording studio and you can sometimes hear some of teh musicans laughing in the backround! Still they have got it right the saxophnes sound especially fantastic and teh voice talent is superb.
**Price?** I got mine for £8.99 in Border books in Fort Kinniard(in Edinburgh) but amazon and all the big stores do them but i don't know if they sell in England but deafinately in Scotland
**Any Links?** http://www.salsaceltica.com/ is the offical website http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EPwwCsfHK4 is them playing at Cambridge Festival.
**Conclusion?** A great CD and worth the money. It is a shame it only has 9 tracks on it as their music is really good. A very lively performance in every song and cannot fault the music. There still going strong after more than 12 years and hope they keep going with their sucess!
Janie x
