Album Notes: David Gedge's indie stalwarts seem to have entirely recaptured the fury of their earlier records with this, their eighth LP (and their second after re-forming in 2004). Gedge's songwriting has always been imbued with bitterness towards the opposite sex, but the band's previous release (2005's 'Take Fountain') and preceding records under the Cinerama moniker saw them giving way to lighter sentiments. Normal service is resumed on 'El Rey', though, with songs such as 'Don't Take Me Home Until I'm Drunk' and 'Boo Boo' displaying their re-captured vigour. Produced by the legendary Steve Albini (Nirvana, Pixies, Joanna Newsom) for the first time since 1993's 'Seamonsters', 'El Rey' features the single 'The Thing I Like Best About Him Is His Girlfriend'.

...the charts at number 1. As the title suggests, it’s about crashing a wedding (like Alfie from Eastenders at Kat’s wedding only a bit more exaggerated).
It is a guitar based song with fun lyrics ‘The ring she got was lame, She couldn’t take the pain, She didn’t want a silly second name’.
3 Who’s David
Without a question mark, this offering of bass guitar- driven pop with an awesome tune and even greater lyrics and vocals was written by James and Tom from McFly. A song about being insecure about a girl seeing other men. ‘You left your phone so I invaded, I hated what I saw, You stupid lying ***** who’s David? Some guy who lives next door’. This is one of the stronger tracks from the album. It is the second single to be released from this album and it will be released on 16th February the day before the Brit Awards 2004 where Busted...

Advantages: A few excellent tracks Disadvantages: Lacking in consistency overall
...I am continuously stunned by the depth of the Ciao catalogue at the moment....and pleased that I can introduce more bands that no one will have heard of into people's lives, even if for a short minute or so...
I have been to gigs that start in such a way that I have stood in awe; my jaw-dropped to terra firma as the early notes ring out across the venue. Far be it from a physical disability that might otherwise leave my chin as a mere remnant on my face but the start to A Small Victory's El Camino has just that very same effect on me, so much so that it has warranted replay ever since its arrival, albeit restricted to those rooms that have been thoughtfully carpeted for such an occasion.
California-based Lobster Records appears to be releasing a fair amount at the moment, including quality debuts from previously unknown bands: El...

Advantages: An excellent album featuring fifteen fantastic Pop Punk anthems Disadvantages: Lyrical intelligence can at times be at a minimum
...Busted were an English Pop Punk band which released two albums and nine singles during their four year history. Active between the years of 2001 and 2005, Busted were a massively popular pop phenomenon with four Number One's to their name, and eight of their nine singles in fact having reached the top 3 in the Official UK Chart. The ninth can in fact be discounted entirely as it was only a Limited-Edition single which never could have entered the charts anyway. 'A Present For Everyone' I feel is the best of the two albums the band released and is in fact one of my favourite albums of all time. Of their four Official UK Number One's, three came from this album; 'Crashed The Wedding', 'Who's David', and '3am'. In the album charts, 'A Present For Everyone' peaked at number 2, eventually becoming a Triple Platinum selling album.
