Advantages: contains serj'sx signiture vocal and political style mixed with soad's ecclectical musical nature
Disadvantages: may be a little OTT for some listeners who don't like SOAD

...the Dead" - 2:54 I have been a big fan of system of a down for a long time now and I have always admired the way in which Serj Tankian uses his voice throughout their music. In a split second he is able to change from a heavy metal style scream to beautiful melodic singing to staccato notes with a polka feel, to a haunting whisper. I bought this CD because I absolutely love the music by System of a Down. My first reaction to the CD was a good one; it's 2 - 5 pounds less than most albums I have bought ,at £10 from Virgin Megastore from Plymouth. Onto the content... The first two songs are Empty Walls and The Unthinking Majority; I already knew I liked these as they had been released as singles before hand and so I had listened to them rather a lot. ...they liked it, but they all loved it(note that these people were all SOAD fans who like this style of music). Serj has kept to his style, but not all of them are the same as SOAD as a whole. In the album he includes a range of his different singing styles such as his fast singing and more. Disadvantages: Nothing new if you've heard System of a Down

This solo project from System of a Down singer Serj offers little to surprise. Fans of SoaD will know what to expect; people who never liked them will not like this either. For those who don't know, the general structure to the songs is (i) open with an explosion of jagged guitar, very loud; (ii) stop of all a sudden and out of breath (iii) have some eccentric vocals (iv) throw in some eastern sounds - Tankian is Armenian - and go loud again.
