Advantages: One Of The Greatest Albums Ever Made Disadvantages: None, But Not For New Fans
inventive and creative side, that mainly came about on this album as his long time producer, Chas Chandler had left after taking offence at Hendrix's lax studio manner and creative differences.
2. Have You Ever Been (To ElectricLadyland) ****
A nice track that is truly the opening to the album, consisting of some simple guitar track and production, which flows on nicely from the previous track. The lyrics are simple and are almost an introduction to the album and the material that is within.
3. Crosstown Traffic *****
The first 'proper' track, which is a great song, consisting of some buzzing guitar and some great drumming in the background by Mitchell that isn't to invasive and sticks to the song well. This is a song that really sets the feel for some of the other material with its production and style, which is bluesy and guitar driven One ...
Advantages: too many - it's great, before its time Disadvantages: none
'ElectricLadyland' was recorded during September 1968 and shows a definite step away from mid-60's hippy-pop rock into some experimental stuff like spiritual blues and psychedelica. It was the third and last album the experience recorded together.

Track-by-Track

1. ...And The Gods Made Love
This first track sets the mood and direction for the album and could be described as a galaxy-patrolling space jam. Which might mean nothing but listen to it and I dare you to describe it.
2. Have You Ever Been (To ElectricLadyland)
A great melodic track which is actually very under-rated in my opinion.
3. Crosstown Traffic
WOW!! This is a two and a half minute flurry of hendrix tells a humorous little story that compares ...
Advantages: Great First Jimi Album Disadvantages: Songlist a bit unclear
Okay first off skip the first track never got it really to be honest. Mind you I bet he didnt either. Right lets start the review.
Basically I am a really bad JimiHendrix Fan. I love the guy and respect him but to be honest I never listened to his music. This was quite emabrassing when people asked "So what do you think of crosstown traffic?" Ummmmm!
The packaging itself is quite nice and simple. His mug on the front means you dont even have to look to see what album you're playing. Yeah I know its great hehe.
Seriously though. The music is all very catchy. You might've heard Crosstown traffic on tv ad's and trust me just the intro gets my neck hairs going. There's also the old classic, All Along the Watchtower and Voodoo Child (Slight Return). This doesn't mean that all the other songs are simply there to fill up any ...

Album Notes
On ELECTRIC LADYLAND Jimi Hendrix stretched and experimented in the studio, going beyond the power-trio format on what would be his last studio album with the Experience. ELECTRIC LADYLAND was revolutionary in its scope and execution. Using New York City's Record Plant as a gateway to free expression, Hendrix traversed an abstract landscape containing compositions as weird and wonderful as "...And The Gods Made Love" and "1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)". Simultaneously looking forwards and backwards, Hendrix mixed in a song reminiscent of his time on the chitlin' circuit (Earl King's "Come On [Part 1]"), a Bob Dylan favorite ("All Along The Watchtower"), and one of his snappiest singles ("Crosstown Traffic"). Although Hendrix produced and wrote most of this masterpiece, others weighed in with their own contributions. Noel Redding penned "Little Miss Strange", and other guests such as Al Kooper and Buddy Miles showed up to play. Traffic's Steve Winwood and Jack Casady of Jefferson Airplane also made cameos, appearing on this classic album's spiritual center, "Voodoo Chile (Slight Return)".
