Advantages: Great atmospheric work Disadvantages: what they were once capible off
...3 different new versions of Tour de France, a superb mixture of Trance and European techno, which sets the mood for the rest of the album with each song paying reference to another aspect of cycling. Throughout the album you are drawn in to the whole sound and as ever Kraftwerk appear to have yet again mastered the art of making electronic music that causes an emotional response, true genius if you ask me. The use of a vocoder for all the vocals ... ...of the original version of Tour De France which was released on the 80th anniversary of the tour when they had two electronic percussionists and you are brought back to what this band once were. You once again hear the complex rhythms that they used to create, and this counter pointed against the minimal arrangements of the synths. This is what they excelled at making perfect pop tunes which despite being on the surface souless had increadable depth, ...
Advantages: Breath-taking, glorious electro Disadvantages: Um, not many
I recently read an interview with Chris Martin of Coldplay in which he stated that Kraftwerk were one of his favourite bands. Why? Because, and I quote "…one day it clicked and it was the best music I'd ever heard." Now, I have given his opinion, because I'm sure many of you will be doubtful of mine when I tell you that Kraftwerk are one of the best bands in the world. Already owning such classics as Autobahn, The Man-Machine and Radioactivity, I ... ...live album and accompanying DVD. One of the major criticisms levelled at Kraftwerk over the years is that they cannot perform exciting live shows because their music seems so static. (Which, might I add, it isn't.) However, the people making these rash judgements have clearly never experienced the magnitude of this album. The music is simply stunning, combining elements of their traditional, ground-breaking electro with techno and other genres their ...
Advantages: An experience that could change your life Disadvantages: None
...marketed as a double product Aero comes as a CD but hidden within the case there is also a DVD, the contents of which far too interesting to be ignored, in what appears to be one of the most controversial moves in his career Jarre forgets the very thing he became as famous for as his music, tipping the view of this musical genius on its axis, what on earth could he have done I hear you cry? Before we look forward we owe it to ourselves to look back.
... ...impressive. With the launch of Aero while still achieving a magnificent show, Jarre's big plan was to put music back into the living rooms of his fans with an unusually low key but impressive new plan.
While the CD is impressive with its music and sound effects, the big deal here lies with the bonus DVD. While the CD features 15 new and remastered tracks, the enclosed DVD features an 11 additional musical scores from his full concert put interestingly ...
Advantages: perfect to relax too Disadvantages: none
the first time i heard this album i didn't know it was jean-michel jarre but just by listening i knew it was his work and as usual it was absolutly brilliant. go out and buy it, you wont regret it. a friend put this on to relax me and it surly did because this is the type of music that can be played either quietly or loud, it is such a clever piece of music, the album is totally cleverly put together. if you have never listened to jean-michel jarre ...
Advantages: Set many records Disadvantages: Not quite as popular as Oxygene
...on Equinoxe? 01 - Equinoxe Part 1. Yep, another album where Jarre didn't come up with track names just part numbers. Back then everyone had some Jarre in their tv music archive and Equinoxe was one of the most used. Like Oxygene its also got a very space travel type feel to it (probably because I associate it with Arthur C Clarke) and it's yet another great example of how well Jean-Michel can create ambient soundscapes. 02 - Equinoxe Part 2. Another ... ...to it. 03 - Equinoxe Part 3. What I think of as "The sea track" becasue of the crashing waves in the intro, I always had a feeling this was supposed to go on Oxygene but was left off at the very last minute and kept over for this album, its got a nice arpeggio sequence that sounds like it'd be impossible to play live and was almost certainly controlled by a sequencer. 04 - Equinoxe Part 4. One of the tracks which was released as a single, this would ...
