Advantages: 1st Album To Feature The Electronic Quartet Disadvantages: Hollow Sound, Experemental Nature Of The Peices
Radio-Activity was the first Kraftwerk Album to feature what most folk regard as the definitive line up. The electronic quartet comprised of Ralph Hutter and Florian Schneider augmented by percussionists Karl Bartos and Wolfgang Flur. The album title is a truly dreadful play on words, as the album was about Radio and Radioactivity, it does suggest some dark Teutonic humor exists in start contrast to their public personas.
As well as being the first ... ...also the first where all the instruments used were synthetic. This sent them in the direction of minimalist technological soundscapes that they would traverse for the rest of their careers. The title track shows this direction with a synthetic bass pulse controlling the mood and rhythm whilst eerie synths flesh out the rest of the song. The completely deadpan vocal adds a sense of foreboding to the song. On their recent European tour this song was ...
Advantages: Eno's first musical high Disadvantages: One bad track
...Music. Only Here Come the Warm Jets is something different. It is an unusual beginning in many ways when considered against some of her later works. Only his second solo album is comparable (Taking Tiger Mountain [By Strategy]) as they are both song based albums. Another Green World and Before and After Science may well have conventional songs (well, as conventional as Eno ever gets) but they also show his leaning towards pure ambient, though in ... ...need some strident, shrieking Fripp here and what happens. We get strident, shrieking, yet Eno controlled Fripp. He adds the body to Eno’s mind, musical wallop to Eno’s calculated ideas. The effect just needs to be heard to be believed. Immensely powerful, the song ending with the two playing off each other near King Crimson style – only one vocal and one instrumental; each complements the other perfectly. Eno met his match in Fripp and vice versa ...
Advantages: A blend of intricate beats, varied jazzy melodies and experimental soundscapes. Disadvantages: Over-tweaking disrupts the ambience occasionally. No mainstream appeal. Some tracks don't work.
Take a Swiss-Italian ambient trance producer (Robert Miles) and blend together with an Indian percussionist (Trilok Gurtu). Add other talented musicians to the mix and allow to simmer gently, making sure you season generously with electronic sculpting and processing. The resulting album is an interesting fusion of acoustic instruments, electronic processed sounds, intricate beats, jazz and experimental soundscapes. Released in 2004, “MilesGurtu” ... ...the dream trance that he became famous for. It builds on his previous album “Organik” (released in 2001), which was his first attempt at creating an experimental sound. This album is characterised by being completely instrumental although 3 tracks feature vocal samples. Double bass, strings, guitar and rhodes performances feature frequently, creating delicate melodies whilst complex beats are generated from drums and tabla. Many tracks shift and ...

Advantages: Music to really relax to. Disadvantages: Movement 3 breaks the mood somewhat!
...first track (movement 1) of Soil Festivities, and showed him actually playing and recording it. It started with thunder and rain, and then lots of birds and animals gathering around an African watering hole to drink. I was captivated. There are no actual animal sounds used but birds are mimicked by the synthesisers. The music is so gentle, uplifting and soothing. Layer upon layer of beautiful sounds. Very warm feeling. Completely instrumental throughout. ... ...really make synthesiser music that is full of emotion and feeling. There a 5 movements to this album. Movement 3 is less relaxing, more turbulent, and not one of my favourites. The other tracks more than make up for this. Perfect for background or upfront listening. Good for bedtime (except movement3). Highly recommended if you like relaxing instrumental music. ...
