Car Boot Soul
Is noe of the best albums ever reliesed also voted by FHM amd M8 magazien.
What can i say about the album apart from being superb.
My experience with this album. My mate had this no a tape witch i heard and asked him about it and says that it is good but vage info so got the album and i will say. one day came back from a great club night at the archies in glasgow, techno night (lauren gaurnie) great night pilled out bouncing beats, ... ...mellow, seductive and sweeping?
Then Car Boot Soul, the last release from Nightmares On Wax, is the perfect album for you. Packed with memorable chill out beats and blissful vocals, Car Boot Soul is the perfect album for listening to after a stressful day at work or, perhaps, over a romantic meal for two.
Laid back to the point of being horizontal, Nightmares on Wax have effortlessly created a mellow classic which is as simple as it is subtle and ...

Autechre's astonishing debut album
Review of Incunabula - Autechre by
gantzgraf
Advantages: Unique, elegant, dreamlike
Disadvantages: Tracks 2 and 10 are flawed
Incunabula was the first album released by Autechre in 1993.
As an interesting side note, Incunabula means "swaddling clothes" in Latin.
Sean Booth and Robert Brown, a.k.a Autechre, are true masters of electronica. Much like Richard Devine, Mira Calix, Datach'i, Venetian Snares and Squarepusher, these guys expand the clichéd genres of I.D.M (Intelligent Dance Music) and electronica in general.
Incunabula is the first of 15 others works by Autechre.
... ...the same musical vision.
Incunabula is like a swaying drum in a Jazz suite; it is vital.
This album is composed of 11 tracks, which amount to a staggering 78 minutes. The cover art was put together by the Designers Republic.
Kalpol Introl is a 3-minute dreamlike foreword to Autechre's creative concept. It is typically progressive; big steamy piston-like sounds hissing in the background with thickset drones humming throughout; unadorned... but ...

A great album
Review of Hard Normal Daddy - Squarepusher by
gantzgraf
Advantages: Brilliant. Genius. Evocative of Big Loada.
Disadvantages: The 5th track.
Hard Normal Daddy was released in 1997, sandwiched in between Feed Me Weird Things (Warp Records, 1996) and Big Loada (Warp, 1997).
Whereas Feed Me Weird Things would be a rather tame piece of work (if compared to the artist's whole discography), Hard Normal Daddy would magnify it's technicality, inflating Tom Jenkison's early efforts into full-blown fusion between drill-n-bass laddering and refined jazz, on a level that would propel Tom's sound ... ...In other words, Hard Normal Daddy is a very important album, much like Autechre's Chiastic Slide (the same year), Aphex Twin's Richard D. James album (1996), and Richard Devine's first nameless Ep (Schematic Records, 1995).
Johnny Clayton designed the inlay and cover art; the booklet is in fact a mini-poster folded into six.
The album has a running time of 63 minutes, encompassing 12 tracks.
The opening track, Coopers World is 1st class Squarepusher. ...

Autechre's 2nd album
Review of Amber - Autechre by
gantzgraf
Advantages: Original. Intelligent. A specific sound.
Disadvantages: Track 10 is a bit dissapointing.
Autechre's textural album.
Amber is Autechre's 4th work; 2nd album.
Sean Booth and Robert Brown released Incunabula back in 1993, a roaring success. This album would attract quite a following. They would then concentrate their sounds and release 2 very singular Eps. The first of these, Basscadet, featured 5 completely different remixes of their ground-breaking track by the same name. These were so plural in their construction that the whole concept ... ...of latter Autechre releases.
Amber was release in 1994, soon after the Anti Ep.
This particular album would enrich the mathematics of Incunabula by opting for reserved and cagey rhythm structures, while expanding their sounds and textures into astronomical directions. A beautiful and heart-felt album.
The cover art gives us a clue of how their musical vision works. It is a panoramic photography of some huge hill in a desert-like landscape with ...

Spiller - Groovejet (if this ain't..) single vinyl
Review of Groovejet (Single) - Spiller by
Art007
Advantages: Great mixes, full length
Disadvantages: none
I have actually got Spiller "Groovejet (If This ain't Love)" single on vinyl.
I bought it from HMV, in 2006 for about £3 brand new. It has two tracks on it; "Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)-Extended Vocal Mix" with Sophie Ellis-Bextor 07:27
and "Groovejet-Solar Stone's Jet Groove Dub Mix". 05:55
It is essentially a DJ's copy but I play it myself.
Two great mixes of this cult classic on Positiva recordings.
It came out in 2000 and can still be ...
