Review of Dirtchamber Sessions Vol.1 - Various Artists by G.e.k.k.o

Advantages: A great look at the influences of The Prodigy
Disadvantages: This won't please their new commercial fans

...the pretence of 'Prodigy presents Dirtchamber Sessions Vol.1' with the idea that there would be further releases, unfortunantely the new fanbase that had heard the infamous Firestarter and Breath tracks did not seem to keen on The Prodigy showing where their musical roots originally layed when they were a little younger and showing off what music they liked off the stage. Sadly further releases had the plug pulled on them... Look at this album as ... Read review

Extra, Extra! Artist Puts Manhattan in a Box!
Review of Last Night - Moby by LuckyDenverMinty

Advantages: Rhythmic simplicty masks symphonic depth, consistently upbeat and refreshing
Disadvantages: Could use a little more variation

...album is darkly moving. The last track "Last night" is another example of the slower side of the album, a good fadeout with some bluesy aspects that is well worth a listen. A bit of pub/bar-room trivia for you all: Grandmaster Caz, famous for weighing in on hip-hop bombshell 'rappers delight' and not to be confused with Grandmaster Flash, makes a vocal contribution on "I love to move in here". Put simply: If you're a fan of Moby, buy this record. ...
...buy this record. , buy this record. If you like to loose it on the dance-floor … buy this record. There are one or two weak links but as a whole it's an easy album to love and easily deserves a place up there with the best of Moby. Best Track: "Every Day it's 1989" Worst Track: "I Love to Move in Here" ... Read review

A new and better direction for Andy Weatherall...
Review of From The Double Gone Chapel - Two Lone Swordsmen by Jezebel1978

Advantages: Eclectic and ground-breaking
Disadvantages: Some complaints of dodgy vocals (I disagree)

...I was so pleasantly surprised. From the Double Gone Chapel is much darker than anything else of his I've heard but not in a teen-angst sort of way; It's more pensive. The opening track "Stack Up" actually brings to mind a moden day Frank Zappa in the way it experiments with sound and rhythm and the addition of guitar riffs on several of the other tracks really does it for me. Guitar-riffs? Don't panic electro lovers; there are plently of industrial ...
...have heard a few concerns from others regarding Weatherall's dodgy vocal talents but can reassure you that they are misplaced. The atmosphere created by his growls on the primarily vocal track "Punches and Knives" is perfect and chilling and on "Kamanda's Response" they complement the track superbly. All in all, I'd highly recommend this to anyone; old school lovers, techno lovers and indie lovers alike... ... Read review
