Lets Hunt and Kill Bryan Adams
Review of Campfire Headphase, The [Digipak] - Boards Of Canada by Champ666

Advantages: Chilled Out Slightly Disturbing Stuff
Disadvantages: Me Ranting About Vanishing Point

...Record label says that "The Campfire Headphase has already achieved critical acclaim to rival its predecessors. What defines this album from previous work is Boards' desire to simply make a melodic, beautiful record. Playing out like a road movie, The Campfire Headphase is a dense and intricate collection of music, immersing the listener in kaleidoscopic swathes of spacious live instrumentation and trademark isolated chords of sound. Here, Boards ...
...of instruments, all of which they played themselves" but what does all that mean???????? Take "Chromarkey Dreamcoat" with its loop of a heavily treated with electronics acoustic guitar played with some slight violence, backed by swooping and burbling synths, and a hip hop drum type thing going on, is a prime example of what this album has to offer, relaxing, atmospheric and ever so slightly disturbing. Whilst a lot of electronic music can come across ... Read review

Bored of Sinatra?
Review of Music Has The Right To Children - Boards Of Canada by HarryDog

Advantages: One of the best electro albums available
Disadvantages: You cannot go back to how life was before!

...This is the sort of music that you have to let yourself go to; you can experience other worlds without drugs kids, and the Boards of Canada is one way of getting there. By far the best track on the album for me (and just about everyone who I know who has heard it) is ROYGBIV (yes, the colours of the rainbow). When I listened to it for about the 10th time with two of my friends back in the summer of 2002, we all agreed that it sounded a bit like ...
...the number 4 broke up and then some early morning documentary came on instead of cartoons. Grr. Anyway, it would seem that such unfortunate compositions have been redeemed by this icon of pulsating brilliance. It is one of the shortest pieces on the album too. Many people have asked the Boards why they made it so short. their answer is usually that less is more, and I agree with them there. you know when you are lying in bed at night and just before ... A mini-album of mini-effort
Review of Twoism - Boards Of Canada by gantzgraf

Advantages: Moments that define the B.O.C sound.
Disadvantages: Tracks Sixtyniner, Twoism, Seeya Later and Smokes Quantity

...People got confused when Twoism was released the same year as Geogaddi. In fact, Twoism was released back in 1995, not in 2002, and could be considered as their first B.O.C album; a mini-album that is, closer to an Ep really. Twoism is very much the root from which all other albums would emerge. The thing is though, Twoism is completely uninspired if compared to the 2 major works from B.O.C's duo, M.H.T.R.T.C and Geogaddi. Twoism features 8 tracks, ...
...a cut-n-paste of tracks like Twoism and Seeya Later. Twoism is a disappointing album. It does however have it's moments of magic. B.O.C would improve their music in a drastic manner with Music Has the Right to Children, released 3 years latter. * (Written by myself - no violation, no lifting, no breach of copyright) ... Pedulum In Silico
Review of In Silico - Pendulum by simplysteve

Advantages: Original, POUNDING BASS
Disadvantages: naff lyrics!

...dry and generally meaningless but in this type of music you expect that. To describe it is a Prodigy for the next generation is fair i think and this album really is a classic already. The general feel of the tracks is similar, with one or two exceptions, the receipe being an acoustic start, heavy build up and powerful, low frequency repetitive and catchy taglines. Since i've owned it, It's been on loop in my car CD player wowing my friends with ... Read review

Bonobo - Dial 'M' For Monkey (2003)
Review of Dial M For Monkey - Bonobo by Morellli

Advantages: composition, easy listening, sound quality
Disadvantages: none

...with some smooth downtempo in Dial 'M' For Monkey, delivering quality tracks like "Noctuary" and "Flutter". This album carries a slow, measured ambience that caresses the soul. Downtempo (or Downbeat) is a very laid-back style of electronic music, similar to ambient music. It's usually permeated with funky head bobbing rhythms, the stressed beat coinciding with the downtempo e.g. the first and third beat of every measure (a segment of time in musical ...
...corresponds to the uptempo. Dial 'M' for Monkey makes use of looped jazz riffs and simple yet mesmerizing basslines, always letting the consumer retain more with each listen. In fact, Bonobo is best appreciated in its subtlety and "little" sounds. It's easy to listen to, as it has the tendency to migrate to the back of the mind, but it also has a lot of depth for those who are willing to pay close attention. Every single track is high quality, ... Read review
