Review of Singles 1993-2003 - Chemical Brothers (The) by kirk_lanckmans

Advantages: Awesome compilation of tracks from one of the best dance acts around.
Disadvantages: A few tracks missing that I would have included.

...and having had countless hit singles and albums, the Chemical Brothers rightly deserve a best of album. And this album does not dissapoint - it is pure class - it's the best of the best and represents 10 years of Chemical Brothers singles. A 2-CD album that really gives you superb value for money. Want the best of the Chems back-catalogue (so far!) - well it's all here in one flippin excellent Album! All the Chemical Bro's finest work in one fantastic ...
...Chemical Brothers work in the future, but as a "story so far" kinda best of album its great. Every track is a winner, there are very few tracks that I skip and even then the only reason I generally skip them is to get to my personal favourites. So what are the tracks like? Well..... "Block Rocking Beats" (which netted a Grammy for "Best Rock Instrumental"!) is still as fresh today as it was a decade ago (and for me was the track that put them ... Read review

Push the Button pushes some of the buttons!
Review of Push The Button - Chemical Brothers (The) by seismicjab

Advantages: Diverse, A couple of brilliant tracks
Disadvantages: Not as good as other Chemical Borothers albums but still worth a listen!

'Push The Button' - Chemical Brothers second newest album is as expected a quality and diverse combination of variuos styles of electronic music as all of the Chemical's albums. Some nice guest appearence's also from Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest and Tim Burgess from the Charlatans. The album contains styles such as elecro house, techno, hip hop, breaks and indie. Although I do rate this album highly, I would not class this by no means as one ...
...'Dig Your Own Hole' and even the latest release 'We Are The Night'. Favourite tracks: Galvanise feat. Q-Tip - Awesome hio hop house fusion. This i sprobably the most famous track on the album, did extremely well in the charts. Bit of an asian music influence apparent Come Inside - Nice pumping breakbeat track with some strong percussive elements and some nice twisted vocals Believe - Tough electro house pounder containing some wicked noises and ... big beat is here to stay
Review of Dig Your Own Hole - Chemical Brothers (The) by dsra999

Advantages: a breakthrough album in more ways then one
Disadvantages: none!

...Dust the duo then released Dig Your Own Hole, many beleived it would hav been hard to better Exit Planet Dust but those doubts were soon swept aside after the first track on the album, block rockin' beats, which featured a sample from schooly D. Block rockin' beats is a huge track which typically defines the genre of music the Chemical Brothers created, big beat. The track is a cacophoney of loud beats, bass, siren like sounds, guitar grooves and ...
...The next track dig your own hole again is a loud fast paced sound with more big beats and funky guitar riffs, which when you hear the next track elektrobank, merely sets the stage. Elektrobank is a another loud tune with a solid bass line and beat which keeps the swing of the album in motion, the end of this track is also very amazing and has a cool sound. Other tracks on the album such as it doesn,t matter and don't stop the rock continue to maintain ... Read review

Feeding on the corpse of Big Beat
Review of Surrender - Chemical Brothers (The) by crustypaul

Advantages: It only cost me £3, good rolling basslines
Disadvantages: dull, flat, not enough energy

...right from the outset. Surrender is the third proper studio outing from the Chemical Brothers and is basically 60 minutes of rehashing the same tired ideas but without as much funk and dirty groove as they are capable of. The fact that i bought this album for £3 from the bargain bin of a local record store explains a lot of what this album is like. Taken individually the tracks are pretty good if a little uninspired but i challenge anyone to listen ...
...to tears ( cue the angry comments ). If you are not familiar with the Chemical Brothers ( where have you been? ) they sound like a grinding, dirty electronic version of some 70's funk disco band with huge crunchy beats, grooving basslines and a random assortment of sampling wierdness, or at least they used too. On this album they have gone for a more 'drug music' vibe with a more four-to-the-floor bass heavy disco sound but seeing as Big Beat has ... Read review

Review of Exit Planet Dust - Chemical Brothers (The) by mumsymary

Advantages: brilliant
Disadvantages: cant get to glasto to see the brotheres this year boohoo

Exit planet dust. The music is playing let’s get straight into it with the chemical brothers first track Leave home. The brothers going to work it out the brothers going to work it out introduces us to this record. Yeah it’s getting to a good beat the brothers going to work it out heavier beat and the music soars and lots of noises I cannot describe. Then the second track is “in dust we trust” This track starts with long ...
...Steve Dubb Jones Exit planet dust was recorded in 1994 The chemical brothers started life as the dust brothers but had to give up this name as there was another band called dust brothers first. Ed and Tom met at Manchester uni Exit planet dusk was their first album. Seen them live a couple of times I think they are playing Glastonbury this year (but We are not talking about that mutter mutter cant go no tickets mutter mutter) going to see the ... Read review
